Even if you use a meth pipe, a regular lighter works better than a torch lighter. Most druggies just rip it off tin foil anyways, because they break their pipes all the time. Dab users on the other hand, always need a torch lighter to get enough thermal mass pushed into the glass or metal nail, unless they have an expensive electronic nail.

At the beginning, if you would manage to fill the lighter/canister/can to the rim with liquid, it would be all liquid. When you use more and more, the amount of liquid sinks and there will be gas on top. 
Correct. Liquid butane is much heavier than air. Is there still any gaseous butane in the canister or lighter or is it all in liquid form? 
Yes, gas, unless totally full of liquid. Butane later gets cold because some of the butane evaporates as it fills the lighter (and thus has more volume to expand into). However, the effect is not all that significant unless the lighter is really empty, since otherwise it will be filled with gas at butane's vapor pressure.
 Does refilling upside down help? Depends on the refilling can is designed Purging a lighter? Purging or “bleeding” is done to remove the air. Every time you inject butane into the tank to refill it, a diminutive bit of air gets in, too. Does butane inside of a can go bad over time? The only thing I can think of is the interior lining starts to degrade or it leaks… Not under normal conditions. Shaking a can of butane - the agitation can increase heat which will increase pressure? 
very slightly; your hand warms it more. shaking a can of butane should not do anything other than check its level of fullness (unless the impurities are really serious). All the other hydrocarbons should stay dissolved in the n-butane. It takes a lot of shaking to add a significant amount of heat, but it can be done. Ultrasonic welding uses this, for example. In a large enough system (relative to the miscibility of the liquids), shaking does mix the liquids. Most lighters are supposed to have a release valve to vent excess pressure (so instead of pushing down it automatically vents due to the increase in pressure) it’s similar to what boilers have a TP valve (temperature pressure). But most cheap 95cent Chinese lighters don’t function properly. Butane torches with thinner airways pull less butane through a partial vacuum. A louder hissing noise means more fuel is being used.

If propane is already added to cans of butane to help them function better at low temps then why is iso-butane also always added as a third ingredient? It always seems to be the same ratio of 30:10:60 (propane/iso-butane/n-butane). Iso(butane) is just an isomer so what is the significance of adding it to the mix?

 How do pentane, hexane and heptane compare to propane/butane? Each adds a H-C-H to the backbone, so each is heavier and less volatile. Hexane is the main ingredient in gasoline. Methane is one C (with all four bonds occupied by H) Ethane is C-C (and 6 H) Propane is C-C-C Butane is C-C-C-C Propane is non-toxic, but requires higher pressure than butane to become liquid. Gasoline is mostly 6 (hexane) to 8 (octane) carbons (plus hydrogens), and is much more toxic than the shorter chains. Propane used in lighter fuel typically doesn't have mercaps added, because of the taste and smell. It is also in such a small volume, that a leak doesn't present as much fire hazard. Propane is added as a propellant, because butane has no pressure at freezing temperaures. It is identical to butane, except it is one carbon shorter in the chain, with it's two attendant hydrogens. It is slightly more water soluble, so it may pick up more water solubles. Yes, propane is added to butane lighters so that they work below freezing. Propane typically has odorant added to it, when it comes in a big tank, so that people can smell a leak. But you are correct - people do not want their lighters to stink up their smoking choice, so no odorant is added to lighters. And lighter fluid (naphtha)? One claim I’ve heard repeatedly is that lighter fluid imparts a flavor to your food/cigar. Most lighter fluid is an aliphatic petroleum distillate of some kind, similar if not identical to naphtha. While individual manufacturers don’t disclose the exact ingredients of their lighter fluids, it just takes a quick Google for the MSDS (material safety data sheets) for just about any consumer product to at least get an idea of what’s inside, if not exact composition. Some of the properties of this class of chemicals: • Most boil in vapor below 200 degrees Fahrenheit. • Most ignite below 500 degrees Fahrenheit. • Most charcoal grills cook at temperatures from 500 - 800 degrees Fahrenheit. So is it just a myth that lighter fluid, unless you’re pouring it on while the food is on the grill, simply boils up and burns away far too quickly for it to have any impact on the food/cigar you’re cooking/ smoking? I don't trust lighter fluid at all. Although in open air it boils at below the burning point of charcoal, the bulk of a briquette can be much cooler than the burning portion, and if the letter fluid is soaked into the charcoal, it takes a long time to work its way out in spite of the temperature. Briquettes with lighter fluid already included are probably the worst. Lighter fluid might be okay if one let all the charcoal get glowing, but why take a chance? I use a plumbers torch to light a few chunks of carbonized wood (which I prefer to compressed coal briquettes) - I then throw them in the grill and cover them with more carbonized wood. It only takes a few minutes longer to get the grill going, and is the cleanest one can get with charcoal.

Take the can of butane turn it upside down, wait 30 seconds for all the accelerant to go to the top and inject depressurize not pure your lighter. The butane in there is still good unless it's 20 years old, and repeat. The reason it goes slow is because you have to keep depressurizing so that way the can is more pressurized allowing the butane to just dump in there

Its very important to wait until the butane warms up a little before trying to light the lighter. Because there is a part in the lighter not sure what it is called. But it is a tube that feeds the butane and because it is cold from the butane and when you light it when cold it can break this tube and then what you get is a lighter that doesn't light unless you light it with another lighter. Easy fix just throw the damn thing in the freezer 10 minutes then fill it. You won't waste your butane. He saying to bleed off the butane. Which will have a cooling effect on the liquid because it is boiling off at atmospheric pressure. Butane boils off at -44 degrees at atmospheric pressure. If you throw it in your freezer at home 10 minutes. You can bring the temperature of the lighter down drastically causing the liquid to condense and make less pressure. Thus making it easier for you to fill your lighter after you take it out of the freezer. not wasting your butane
