Medium refiner only works in locations where you can provide power to it. That's the center of large round or square rooms, and cuboids, but your Freighter's at this time do not have a way to place and power a medium refiner. Large works just fine as it did before, and does not need power.

What is awesome about it? Just curious as for me, it has just added tons of new bugs and not fixed old ones. No new biomes. No new fauna. Same old bugs. For example : freighter captains always assume you just bought their freighter and I have been stuck on 10/16 portal glyphs since Atlas Rising. Bases are now even more tedious. Farming is pointless thanks to the value of things you can find being asininely valuable. Seriously, other than a lag ridden hub, the ability to mount fugly muppets and VR ( which is kind of ass ) what is good about Beyond? I know I am a dick, but seriously, what new feature or item is an actual improvement? Maybe I just have not spent enough time riding super ugly things around slowly for no reason?

@@IMRavnos Ouch. Getting hit with a RIGHT hurts. Riding mounts is fun for about 4.8 seconds. Now if you could corral, collect, and crossbreed.... Since Beyond, I've crashed more times that those huge freighters. Never froze or crashed a single time before in over 300 hrs. The *new* jetpack thrust jump everytime you select something off of quick menu is about to cringe-rage me off of game until they correct. That along with being stuck at 13/16 portal glyphs.

That's not correct. It still works but the ratio is lower so it takes more time to get huge ammounts of the elements. You can multiply many elements with this or a very similar method. Look up the NMS Wiki nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Resource . It works with 1. Organic (except Hexite) by refining e.g. 50 carbon + 50 condensed carbon into a carbon crystal and refine that crystal again into 150 condensed carbon (or 300 carbon). 2. Di-Hydrogen by crafting Jelly and refining it. 3. Metallic same method like organic. 4. Catalytic same as organic. 5. Subterranean same as organic. 6. Aquatic with Chlorine + Oxygen (multiply oxygen -> see organic) 7. Stellar by making chromatic metal and combine it like in the video. BUT it doesn't work on Gas, Localised, Organic Compound, Harvested and Asteroid elements. Btw I think this is no "exploit" - It's rather "breeding" elements in a refiner like a theoretical breeder reactor. You need to unlock some blueprints first!

@@Indyday I must be doing something wrong then because im still getting out the same amount i put in for cadmium, unless I make chromatic from a different source like copper then add it, but that defeats the purpose of this. For clarification... I start with 100 cad and, put 50 cad into refine and get 50 chromatic. Then I add that back in with 50 more cad and i get out 100 cad. The same amount of cad i started with.

​@@Struggle_cuddles Well, sort of. Copper and Cadmium only has a 1:1 ratio. So you can't increase the ammount of those elements if you don't use a small "work-around". For infinite chromatic it's the best if you use indium. There you have a 2:4 (1:2) ratio. Make sure you don't convert all of your indium. keep a small ammount so you can create more! Now you can use this chromatic that was made out of the indium and put it into another refiner together with your copper or cadmium. Now you can create infinite ammounts of those materials.

You can do almost the same thing with Ionized Cobalt. Sells for like 401 units per? Just get a little cobalt, and some oxygen. Start making a little ionized cobalt, 2 cobalt and 2 oxygen give 5 ionized cobalt. Then change to 1 ionized cobalt and 2 oxygen, gives 6 ionized cobalt. Oxygen can be bought at any space station for really cheap. I stock up on a few space stations worth, and grind it out. It is actually faster, and makes more money than the cadmium trick. Which isn't really a glitch. Exploit if anything. You can also do chlorine. Which sells for 601 units per. 1 chlorine, 2 oxygen = 6 chlorine. Almost as good as indium. Just need some salt or chlorine to get started on multiplying.

if u can get some indium in blue-star systems. 1x Indium => 2x Ch-metal 1x Indium + 1x Ch-metal = 4x Indium Repeat till infinity. This one is old, they may have increased the ratios.

Osmund Francis exactly. It's just exchanging time/effort for money/materials, same as any other activity in the game. A fully upgraded scanner can do similar for money if you like planet and system hopping. I make millions per hour just scanning things while doing everything else.

Do indium instead, if you have a freighter or do a base mission from the nexus on a planet (it has a chance to spawn you in a blue star system) in a blue star system with indium you can use the same method but with better results, as indium gives more money and 1 indium equals 4 chromatic material, cadmium is a 1:1 ratio, so it’s less efficient, the hard part with indium is getting to a blue star system, but once you do you are set for life

The medium refinery will attach/snap to the central point in a large prefab (cube or cylinder). I found that out by accident. Also, refine the metals with pure ferrite to boost chromatic metal production.

If you add gold + silver + indium in the large refiner you get 30 chromatic metal per gold silver and indium i think that would be faster since you get 7500 chromatic metal per 250 of them

I sold a bunch of indium (around 11,000ish) at a trading post for around 20,000,000 units and when I went back to the same trading post to sell more of the indium I noticed the value of the indium decreased to -81% in value for every 1 indium. What’s that about? And will it go back to normal price eventually? Can someone explain how this works?

The medium refiner simply needs to snap into place and can only do so in either the large pods or small cube rooms, not in the first wooden/metal.concrete buildings. It's not glitched.

Hi Jason, Do you know if the amount of 1024 minerals stack up like that in survival mode? Since Beyond (this is my savegame from before Next) my Large Refiner only goes up to 250 and my Suit Cargo slot only goes to 500 and my Freighter only goes to 1000. I do have the Ion Batteries etc that will stack up to 50 in one slot. I don’t get it.. Is this a glitch/bug that you know off? Love to hear from you. Kind regards

It's normal though. It's always been like this. It's a craft recipe. Just like you add oxygen to carbon and basically get unlimited carbon, same goes with cobalt. Basically the game let's you duplicate things once you have the refiners, so that you can focus your attention on base building etc. It's not broken it's just game logic.

liberteus Yup. You can tell this is intended behavior because if you look at what the job the refiner is tasked with when you put the materials in, it's called "chromatic expansion", meaning the chromatic metal is intended to expand the second material. It's by design.

I got another loop recipe for you Jason, for Pure Ferrite. You'll need an Oxygen Harvester, Pure Ferrite, some Oxygen and some Condensed Carbon. 1. 1 Condensed Carbon + 1 Pure Ferrite -> 3 Magnetized Ferrite 2. 3 Magnetized Ferrite -> 6 Pure Ferrite 3. 1 Condensed Carbon + 2 Oxygen -> 6 Condensed Carbon 4. 50 Condensed Carbon -> 250 Oxygen (via Oxygen Harvester) With ~20 minutes of doing this you may end up with around 3000 Pure Ferrite, give or take.

Hey Jason. Love your videos. I needed cadmium to install some technology, but didn't know where to get it so was very happy to learn this tip. HOWEVER, I tried disassembling the pulse engine. I could see that I would get 75 cadmium, but when I actually disassembled, there were no cadmium resources in my inventory. I tried it twice (bought a second pulse engine upgrade). Any ideas why it might have failed? I'm playing on xbox one.

My dumb question is...do I need to buy the beyond disk in order to get all the latest and greatest changes (I really like how the GUI allows you to move materials and tech over to your Inventory super quick as well as the personal refiner and the super large inventory counts and want those for sure) or does the latest patch represent all the good stuff beyond features? The best way to do that is with Chlorine and Oxygen. 602 unit per Chlorine. I made 300 million units in about 3 hours. For 1 Chlorine and 2 Oxygen you get 6 Chlorine.

You can do something similar with oxygen and chlorine, it works even better because chlorine sells for more than even indium, you don't need to spend nanites and you only need a few thousand startup units 2 oxygen + 1 chlorine = 6 chlorine, buy 5000 oxygen for 170k and start with 1 chlorine and with a couple of refineries you can have 15k chlorine in minutes, sells for 8m+ If you sell it at a station that sells chlorine this will tank the price you can then buy back the 30k chlorine at around 5m and sell it again at another station for 15m, netting you 10m each time. Do this until you have about 30m, then switch to wiring looms, buy all you can in the first station teleport to the next station and sell for a slight loss (crashes the price) then buy back at a discount and teleport to the next station rinse and repeat. You can make 100m of units in minutes doing this. It does take 2 hours for the prices to reset though so the longer the chain of stations you have the more profitable it is, I was able to make 90m with the first 5 stations (I've barely started the game) It does take some of the fun out being able to basically have infinite money from the get go, but you're still limited by nanites and salvaged tech so you can't just go buy everything right at the start of the game.

This is fine but I think ancient bone farming is way more direct and a bit less tedious. S rank bones are worth like 1.5 million each and las night in about 45 minutes of farming I found about 25 of them. And alot if purple bones that are about 600k each. Just setup a farm base with a trade terminal in it and it's just a matter if doing a big loop..getting bones..selling.. save game. Exit client reload in and all of the bones respawn.

Demanu Gaming Bigger stacks are available in creative mode, and normal mode. On survival mode, and perma-death mode, the stack maximum is 250 for normal/refiner and 500 for cargo/starship.

@@MajinPsycho1 put a gas extractor near gas hotspot and wire it to a lot of depots so when you start playing again you have like 5000 oxygen depending on the hotspot and the amount of depots you build. I built a farm that gives 38,000 oxygen in 5 hours.

Definitely a great use, but with chromatic metal and cadmium they build off each other where is oxygen you have to go run around to your farm

He just travelled to a different system an the price went back to normall but when he came back to me it changed back to 92 units so aleast he can go away from me an get the full amount for it, i think i could just be a bug caused from beyond update i was looking at ship it was Aclass 48+8 £112,000,000 when he came back it changed to Cclass 38+7 £48,000,000 its messed up i said maybe its cause im further on in the story than he is not to sure about that though

@@JasonPlaysNMS I found a grade b indium mine and have 9 extractors on it feeding into a lot of silos. 30k indium every 13 hours. I had made 17 million units with it but had the money glitch that emptied my wallet when traded my ship so gotta get that money back lol.

It should teleport into the system. Have you checked your galaxy map? If it spawned into a system and you left by accident then it will stay there. Look at the stars and it should have a little round symbol next to the system the anomaly is in.

I've herd you can use the portal in the anomaly to go back to different galaxies if you want to change systems you can just warp back or use space station portals to warp to other space stations

Yep, thats the way. Head to the space anomaly, in the back there is a big portal you can use to go back to any other galaxy you have been to.

Thanks for this! This totally got me going from having maybe 200 nanites and 200k units, to 20+million units in a couple of hours. It does work just fine on Beyond now with a medium refiner (current patch), I managed to make 2 medium refiners and got a little routine going, doing it in stretches at my tiny wooden shack base while I was running around doing main quest things and it was really pretty painless.

I'm pretty sure Chlorine Expansion is faster, 2 oxygen + 1 chlorine = 6 chlorine... all you need is a crap base with oxygen harvesters.

Also, if you're in a system that sells chlorine at the station, you can sell all of your chlorine, which crashes the price super low, then buy it all back at the lower price. Free money and the price will go back up after a bit to do it again

Go to space station. Buy an A class ship. Scrap said ship with your suit empty. Spam the scrapped ship about 4 times before the process catches up. You would have successfully scrapped the same ship about 5x filling your suit with technology to break down. Your welcome. Units and nantes

You can do the same with cooper & indium. Indium is the best as it refines to more Chromatic Metal and it sells for more than Cadmium. Of course, you need the "seed" indium. Which I get from a planet on a blue star system.
