How to Refurbish your flaky faux leather shoes/bag

Bought a new faux/synthetic leather shoe or bag and it's already flaking??
Sharing this hack to Refurbish your flaky faux leather shoes/bags our way into as good as new stuff.
Required: Sandpaper, black polish cream & brush/sponge
STEP 1: Scrub off the entire faux material from the surface of the shoe. Also remove the waxy layer below the faux skin.
STEP 2: Apply black polish cream on the surface using a sponge preferably or a paint brush. Apply 3 layers of polish as it tends to absorb depending on how dark you want. I have used black as it is good at hiding details. You can use any other dark color. Don't worry the polish won't come out or leave it's mark anywhere else.
The end product will give a suede looking finish. Enjoy!!

My advice if you want to keep the color. Take the areas that are worn and trim/sand them till the area isn’t flaky. Apply an alcohol based dye that closely matches to the entire shoe, then apply cheap alcohol based polish to the entire shoe. Alternatively, sand the affected areas, use leather paint, then apply a finish to them. It’ll at least hold ya over a bit.🤷🏼‍♂️ If you’re fine with the color change and a matte finish then this also works just fine.

At 6 y.o. i had to do that to my 3 brothers' and father's: 2 boyscouts, military father. For me i was excited to do it. We had a shoe shiner box and kit. Inside: buffing brush, scrape brush, tooth brush, face towel, special soft rag, black shoe wax, brown glass bottle in the cap (handle) was a twisted wire at the other end a cotton ball attached to spread a black dye and that strong smell. After the cleaning you spread that liquid by areas, when wet you fire it up, scrape that dust, toothbrush to spread wax, face towel to remove excess and last soft brush for buffing. In addition it was a white paste (like a toothpaste tub) to clean the white canvas "corsette" that goes around the shoes. We didn have calendar, so i was checking constantly those shoes and the "ingredients" including the Lestoil to remove the grease not to be without them😅
