I discovered the hard way that cheap, low quality line isn’t worth your time or energy. It tends to tangle when reloading and while attempting to use the “bump feed”! It’s just not worth trying to use just to save a couple of bucks. Try a high quality line of the correct size and you’ll think you have a completely different piece of equipment. I’ve also found that if I load 5’ sections vs the recommended 6’ sections I get much better results with the whole process also.

My family has been die hard Craftsman since the 1980's. I got one of these "easy load" weed eaters for a father's day gift a few years ago and based strictly off my review of this head, I have never owned a bigger piece of crap in my life. I spend more time working on this head than it takes to trim my whole yard ...

I was so frustrated with my WC 2200 after only one line would wind in that I threw the lines and cap twice. This video just made me more angry. The problem I found was that I wasn't pushing the line far enough in before winding- they feel like they stop after a half-inch or something, but if you push them further in (like a couple of inches), they will poke through the head and wind on. It helps to start the lines with the spool cover off so you can see how far the line goes in before you see the end thread out the other hole in the inner reel. I hope this helps more than the "it's so easy what's wrong with you" comments smh

I don't have any problem winding it. But when I use the trimmer and the line gets broken off (as expected, normal), it breaks off just inside the head, so I still have to take the head apart to get the remaining line out of it before I can reload more line. Seems sortof dumb... I had a lot of problems with the line getting tangled inside the head and it wouldn't feed -- but I think I've solved that now by using shorter lengths (around 5').

I do switch between front shafts as i have the bump feed on the newer and a different head where you feed 2 smaller pieces in. I use the bump for when i have alot to weedwhack and heavy edging ill use the other for minor stuff as the line usually last a long time.

Just turn the head counter clockwise to remove the line that took. Then put both sides in. But here's the trick, you don't wanna put the lines 3 inches in, they'll only get stuck in the head and won't catch. Since you have to turn the head clockwise to wind the line, stick the lines in straight in and as soon as you can't push them in anymore, angle them ever so slightly in the clockwise direction and then start turning the head. They both will catch then. Took me a couple of tries but it worked. Don't stick the lines in so deep, they will not catch!! Hope this helps

This was literally the worst head I have ever used. Extremely aggravating! Only one side would accept string, and it would still get stuck inside when trying to push it through. After 45 minutes, with one side loaded, the string would shoot out very easily and get chewed up while using the trimmer. I would encourage Craftsmen to take lessons from Husqvarna because they know how to make a decent bump head.

Ever since Black & Decker bought the Craftsman line their quality has significantly gone down hill. The first thing Black & Decker did was take away the lifetime guaranty and the no-questions-asked replacement policies. When I was a kid the Craftsman name meant something, it meant quality and tools that could take a beating, tools the everyday man could afford. Now they might as well just be made in China with some never heard of Chinese brand name on them cause that's all they're worth.
