I have taken Gleim and ASA and neither of them explained it this well and so concisely. Coupled with the podcast it’s great. I wish I’d known about all of this sooner. Even the short few days listening to the podcast has prepped me better than my online ground school previously

kings says 3miles visibility and 1000ft ceiling in class B,C, and Class D. is this incorrect? just want to clarify? Thanks for the great info you put out
@PartTimePilot
@PartTimePilot Жыл бұрын
No. For class B the minimum cloud clearance is clear of clouds. But we usually don’t use the word ceiling when we talk visibility and cloud clearance. We usually say ceiling when we are talking about whether or not the weather is VFR, IFR or MVFR. But even here VFR is a ceiling of 3000 ft AGL or greater. IFR would be less than 1000 ft AGL.
@Havanafly
@Havanafly 2 жыл бұрын
Does this apply to Canada VFR too? I have to transfer my U.S ppl to Canada I am trying to find out if the ground I took in U.S works for Canada as well.

THE HALF STATUTE MILE IS ONLY FOR HELICOPTERS...BUT GOOD TO KNOW IF YOU LEARN TO FLY THEM...IT IS NOT FOR FLYING AN AIRPLANE. BUT AS CFI'S AND JUST AVIATION STUDENTS WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HE TAUGHT US HERE...SO IF WE ARE TESTED ON THAT INFO THEN WE CAN GET IT RIGHT AND PASS THAT IMPORTANT RULE AND REGULATION ON TO THOSE WHO WILL BE FLYING HELICOPTERS...IT REALLY IS GOOD TO KNOW! THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE AND WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!

What about special VFR In D?
@PartTimePilot
@PartTimePilot 2 жыл бұрын
This video only covered normal VFR weather minimums. Special VFR is 1 SM visibility and clear of clouds. So normally in class D you would need at least a ceiling of 1001' AGL to be able to fly VFR but if you determine you can still fly safely out of the airport area even though the ceiling is reported as lower than 1000' AGL (sometimes reports lag the actual conditions) then you can request special VFR to stay clear of clouds as you leave the airport
