I found out I needed silicone instead of plumber's putty because the putty contains oil which degrades plastic. Now I know that I shouldn't have an issue with that silicone later on. Thanks!

Are you doing in wall connections with the shark bites? What kind of material is the water lines made of? I like shark bite. They come in handy. They are expensive, but will help you in a pinch. Thank you!

@@ThatFixItGuy Going from copper in the basement, and up to a sink but it's a tight area to work in and when I did one water line (running copper) it wasn't the prettiest job but passable.

if the area is going to be exposed you could put a sharkbite then run pex or copper up to the sink and go that route. It would be easy solid fix. If you were to solder on a pex adapter to the copper then run pex that is a better fix I think. But then you are looking at buying some tools they you may not use a lot. I know lots of people have all kinds of opinions on sharkbite type fittings. If they are not exposed to freezing they are a solid fitting. They are UPC code approved to be inside walls these days.

Can you do removing the sink?? I have a huge crack and hole in the sink and needs to be replaced.... It looks like I babe no screws holding the sink up.... So I'm guessing it's glued to the vanity??? Would love to see the process.

Will either be caulked or siliconed on. Get a painters tool and run it around the rim a couple of times. You’ll have to get all that caulk out of there. Once you can get the tool under the sink it should pull up pretty easy. Make sure all your plumbing is disconnected first.

Cannot get the slip nut off. I must have tightened it going counterclockwise from my view. But maybe not counterclockwise in line with the threading. 😢

Don’t use silicone to begin with. Then you won’t have trouble removing it. Learn how to use stain free putty.

LOL. So true. This was a video to all the people that said they could not get silicone off. It really is too easy. I love plumbers putty, but got sick of call backs all the time for all these cheap new plastic pop ups. Silicone has not failed me in this regard.

Amen. You gotta try the Amazon pop ups. Brass body with the mushroom pop up like for vessel sinks but you can get the ones with overflow. But they run me $20 in chrome and $35 in bronze. And they have a silicone seal in a wedge shape. Makes the repair easier without the linkage. And no stain worries with the silicone seal. I keep 5 on order each week and use them every time someone calls about a pop up not working or clogged. O dude and the ease of hair cleanouts. Just pull mushroom out. Has a little basket. Anyways.
