To get that portion off, you will have to remove the door panel and then you can see the backside of the panel. To get that panel off, you will have to melt the plastic welds that hold it to the panel and remove it that way.

That pieces is factory painted, we did not paint it. It was an option that was available on some models when the car was being built.

The Black cover is simply pulled off. The glue that is used to keep it in place is able to be reused when going back together.
