Good technique... In my motorcycle engine the piston is stuck due to oxidation ( stored for long ) .... Would scrubbing off the oxi- deposits help release and also save the piston? Thanks

I think taking off all the corrosion you could see would be a good start, but if the piston gets damaged, you really have not much choice but replace. This one (RZ350R) was seized as the previous owner had not serviced/checked/replaced the air filter and it crumbled into the intake. The fragments of air filter melted into the ring and YPVS like some super duper hot glue. I could have reused the piston but there was a little corrosion in one bore (from thirty years of storage), so I had to re-bore and replace the pistons.

@@smithy356 Ok.. Thanks for the insight. Did not know air filter could influence the damage. In my case it's a 2 stroke motor ( Yamaha RX135), so I guess moisture could have gotten in via exhaust port, as it was lying outside without running for nearly 5 years. The piston and block, head are no more available in the market, hence trying to save them, if possible.

Put a small block of wood on top of that piston first !!!

If the pistons could have been saved, that would have been a great idea. However a seized piston is never something that can be reused.

remove the T handle thats flapping around, and put a 17/19mm socket on there with ratchet', otherwise perfect idea
