This video shows how to remove a stump. I used Spectracide stump remover granules to aide in the decomposition of the stump to make this happen. If you have more time than energy, this is meant for you. Super easy, and very little labor involved. Thanks for watching, sharing, and commenting!

We got rid of a 3' oak stump by putting a bag of charcoal on top an lighting it, an about a week later there was no more stump down to about 6 In's below the dirt, once lit, it just kept burning all the way down, luckily we didn't have any rain an the stump was well aged an dry, occasionally we would give it some whacks with an axe to open it up for more burn, tree was about 18 in diameter, worked out well, jus food for thought.

Hi Phil, Greetings from Central NY state and thanks a bunch for this super-helpful video ! I've followed this procedure to attempt to remove two tree-of-heaven (evil ?) stumps in my yard, about 12'' wide and 10'' tall. I started out with a 1/2'' spade-it, as I had read on a similar website that this would be sufficient. After I began drilling, I discovered your video, so I simply ended up making about 15 half-inch holes, 10'' deep each, into the top surface of all the stumps. I think this should give sufficient coverage. Then drilled about 10 diagonal (45 deg. angle) holes on the side of the stump such that they matched the top surface ones on the periphery. I just filled all the holes with Spectracide granules with hot water and covered the stump. I plan to keep on pouring hot water every day per your instructions. This said, 3 questions: 1) Should I pour Spectracide back in the holes again ? 2) For how many more days should I keep on adding water ? Do I simply look to see if there's no granules left ? 3) It was impossible to remove all the drill dust from the holes, as hard as I tried. Would that be an issue. Thanks a bunch and sorry if this was too long ! Pete

I would keep watering until the granules have dissolved. then just let time take over. The longer you wait, the easier it will be to take out.

Hey @PetranGavrosForever, looks like it's been about 10 months -- how did this work for you? I stumbled upon this video while researching non-herbicidal ways to remove Tree of Heaven so I'm very curious about your post! My big fear is that TOH is so aggressive that your trees probably either 1) root suckered or 2) sprouted from the open holes, essentially ignoring the spectracide 🤣. Curious to hear what happened to your evil trees!

Indeed, and for better effect you can add an extra bottle of stump remover with some extra boiling water a few weeks before burning it, then once it's bone dry drizzle about 6 ounces of kerosene or diesel into each hole and a good coating over the surface, giving it a few hours to soak in, then place a healthy pile of charcoal briquettes on top and light them up. The extra potassium nitrate will serve as an excellent oxidizer and the kerosene/diesel will really get it going, if the holes and stump remover is evenly distributed it should be a pit of ash in a couple hours. If you're like me and buy potassium nitrate bulk by the 50 pound sack (for rockets) you can go ham and fill the entire length of each hole with KNO3 prills, the stump burns up in about 30 minutes lol. If you're even more like me you can change the second addition of stump remover/KNO3 with a 65/35 ratio of blended KNO3 and table sugar, again filling the holes completely followed by a few cups of boiling water. Once a few weeks have passed (obviously you want to burn in late spring or summer when it's able to really dry out) and _that_ particular concoction has dried out a little, the stump will be a veritable fire hazard lol, as the stump will be infused with a stoichiometric mix of basic rocket fuel. It would surprise me if the stump took more than 5 minutes to become a bowl of ash lol, and boy will it be a smoke show🤣.

I've learned over the years to use "time" instead of "back". In this video, I was actually sitting on a bucket and leisurely wedging the pieces out. It was super ez and took about as hour. The granules, Fall and Winter did most of the work! Been doing a lot of fishing and gardening. I'm picking cucumbers, zucchini, spinach every day! BTW..... if you don't have a Zoodle maker, you NEED one! I've replaced pasta noodles with Zoodles (zucchini noodles). Unreal how amazing they are! stir fry in liquid aminos, garlic, onion, seasonings and sesame oil! Don't waste money on the frozen ones (nasty).... make fresh ones from the garden! Mmmmmmmmm!

Thanks for this video. I am heading out to drill my holes today. I have 8 Bradford pear stumps varying from 16 to 18 in in diameter My question is did you actually pour 4 ounces in each hole? That's going to be expensive because each bottle ($8 at Lowes) is only good for 4 holes at that rate. It looked as if you drilled about 10 holes in 1 stump, so that 2.5 bottles per stump.

We have a huge stump that was ground down almost a year ago. We made the mistake of thinking that because the humongous silver poplar tree was ground down to the ground, even below the ground that it was dead. Suckers began to sprout from the center of the ground down stump!!! That is why I am here in 2023 watching your video. I will give you an update to let you know if Spectracide Granules worked to get this stump decomposed and then I plan on burning it! This monster tree has sent out suckers over our entire yard and our neighbors yard. We routinely dig up the suckers weekly. I would not wish this nightmare on my worst enemy. So after much prayer to Jesus Christ and in HIS name I have asked for wisdom on how to get rid of this problem and stumbled across your video. We tried other methods to no avail. We tried vinegar and salt but it rained too often. We tried Epsom Salt and vinegar, same problem. I tried burning a fire on top of the stump and that did not work because the stump is green and alive and sending up baby trees everywhere including the middle of the stump. So I will let you know if Spectracide works.
@PhilCrockett

Poplar tree, this particular kind grow extremely fast, especially the suckers. I would like to report however that we finally got control over our yard and our neighbors yard where they had spread to using Roundup. I bought the biggest bottle they had, dumped the liquid on the stump without even diluting it and the stump dies within a week. A month later the stump, the bark peeled off and curled up and withered. Now there are less suckers, nothing left of the stump for them to feed off the roots from it that were not ground down properly. Then we took turns hand picking, plucking off at the roots because these send out runners all over the yard, daily, weekly pulling them up by hand. A lot of prayer to God in Jesus name and it appears to have worked. I also mow the yard routinely.@@PhilCrockett

Dilute sulfuric acid is very effective. Don't use the liquid in your old car battery, it has lead in it. The main ingredient in spectracide is potassium nitrate, a strong oxidizer, and a very good potassium and nitrogen fertilizer. Any one trying to obtain large quantity would have to be reported to authorities.
