I've searched for this last year, and the video that I found last year of a professional painter just jimmying out the screens that I stumbled across had me thinking you just had to 'man up' and wiggle the frame a bit to get it loose. I had *zero* idea that the windows opened with those thumb slides on the top of my window (We actually have the exact same vinyl windows!) and ruined one of my screens last year. I'm amazed that I was able to get one windows screen removed and replaced without incident in hindsight. Thank you for the video!
@michiban6 Жыл бұрын
This is an excellent video! Thanks for showing what to do so clearly and easily! I’d just about given up hope on getting to the screens and fixing them or patching them up. Just a note for those who may have a different style of screen than what’s shown here: your screen may not have tabs to push. Instead, it may have 2 thin flexible bands of metal on the left or right hand side of the screen, which you can’t see because they’re hidden in the track. To get the screen out of the window frame, push the screen towards those bands. I.e., if the bands are on the left-hand side, push the screen to the left. If they’re on the right, push towards the right. (This may take some trial and error, since you can’t see them.) As you push, the metal bands that are nestled in the track will compress and you’ll be able to (gently) maneuver the screen free.

what is your advice on opening the window screen? I'm having a hard time just lifting the screen. I haven't opened them in 16 yrs so I'm sure it's just stuck, but do you have any ideas on opening them further than 1/3 inch. ?
@AroundTheHome14 жыл бұрын
Are you asking about opening the window screen, or the window. Because it sounds more like the window. So, I'm just going to assume that for the moment. Since it sounds like they are moving some, I know 1/3 of an inch isn't much, but al least they shouldn't be painted shut. I would get some WD 40 and try to lube up the tracks. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org

@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
If they go unlevel the you will need to fix that. You just need to carefully push the high side down, or the low side up to straiten the window before you close it.
@antonellpr2 жыл бұрын
@@AroundTheHome1 well it’s all the way back up so I tried to parallel the other side with it but now they won’t come back down and now the glass is too big to even try to on how can I get them to come back down I’ve been trying for a couple hours now
@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
@Antonell Santiago, it sounds like the window even came out? If so the only way I know how to fix that is to take a flat head screwdriver and stick it in the spring clip. Then, and this isn't easy, you can pull the spring back down. And just try and bring it down halfway, not all the way. This is not easy and you will definitely need both hands on that screwdriver to keep it in place while you are pulling the spring down. Sounds like you might need an extra set of hands as well. Be careful here. These kind of projects can get very frustrating. I always find that the more frustrated I get, the more I screw it up. So make sure to walk away for 5 to get your head straight before you try again. You might even have a bad slider that let one side shoot up. You might be fighting a defective part. I can't really tell, just trying to help the best I can.
