My comment is no reflection on this man and his video here. In fact, I will leave him a thumbs up. That being said, it always makes me scratch my head when I see people waste all this time when they are going to throw them in the trash afterwards. This is simple, people...if you do not give a flying crap about the old ones, and you're going to toss them in the trash anyway, there is absolutely nothing faster than walking out to your car, with cordless drill and and hook tool. Yup, it's exactly what is sounds like! Drill a quick hole, drop the hook tool in, and yank! Boom, it's out! In fact, you have no hook tool? No problem, a screw driver works just as good... No drill? That's ok too, a hammer and screw driver work just as well. Even using the hammer to bang the screw driver into the center cap is far quicker than c int back 10-minutes later (again, no reflection of this video). There is simply no faster method! Forget all this 10 to 15-minutes stuff. I did all four of mine in less than 30-seconds - yes, I timed myself! And, even with a small hole in the center, the old ones didn't look so bad. I could totally reuse them in a pinch! faster. Forget all this 10 to 15-minutes stuff. I did all four of mine in less than 30-seconds - yes, I timed myself! And, even with a small hole in the center, the old ones didn't look so bad. I could totally reuse them in a pinch! This doesn't have to be too hard if you are not trying to salvage the old ones.

Rub alcohol on them first to get all the grime off first then the tape will stick better.

@@worthowaste I'm gonna tell you the truth, I saw this video and I went to my car to try, but I notice a gap between the badge caps and the wheel. I used a flat head screwdriver and a microfiber cloth to not scratch the wheels and it worked for me. I'm thanking you for your video because most videos removing these was suggesting to drill a hole in the badge cap which is obvious that is going out that way. This video is an alternative way to do it. I didn't want to damage my old caps, whether they are old or not.

Did u say duck tape or snatch tape and where can i get it from
@worthowaste3 жыл бұрын
I used electrical cloth tape, you can use duct tape. I find the normal electrical tape isn’t sticky enough. Try with what tape you have at home first, just give it some time to stick if it does not come out the first time

Why not use a thin flat head screwdriver to get it out? That’s a small car, what type is it?

@@worthowaste you won’t scratch the rims if the object is thin enough. What type of VW do you have?

@@worthowaste -I’ve seen those cars in Europe. We don’t have them here in Canada. Must be close to our Golfs or Rabbits.

Yeah they are in Europe, these little cars are like rockets, they pack some really impressive power for diesel cars

ever consider just drilling a hole in the center caps you'll throw away anyway and inserting a hook to pull them?
@worthowaste5 жыл бұрын
I ended up loosing one of the new ones, lucky I had the old ones because 2 of them was fairly good and I used one of them

Why waist $$, just screw any old wood screw into the center of the cap and then pull on the screw, they will just pop straight out takes a few seconds to take out and replace each one
@worthowaste5 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea. But I did reuse these ones on another car that had 2 missing

I know its terrible and I suck.. I'm trying to get better on KZbin, talking to a camera is like talking to yourself it isn't easy. The only way is to keep posting and getting criticism and to improve on that. See my latest video how silly I am. Guess I'm sorry until I get better

Your caps were stuffed. Drill a 2mm hole, stick the "L" of a small allen key in and pull. All 4 done in less then 60 secs.

@@worthowaste Yeh, that's up to you of course but you can buy a set of 4 of those caps on ebay for $15 - why anyone wouldn't replace the 4 (for $15) with new is beyond me.........

@@worthowaste Dude you bought 4 (you show them in the video).....which must mean you have 2 new ones sitting on a shelf collecting dust now. If you are happy with that arrangement it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks.

Iv actually gotten more, I gave my friends that were missing or had damaged ones so I ended up with 2 old ones on my car by anyway. It’s doesn’t really matter there’s quite a few ways to remove them just a persons preference
