I changed mine too and your video helped a lot. Couple of challenges. Putting back the serpentine belt is not easy by one person. Also I had to look into the service manual to check the torque for the bolts. use 16 lb.ft for 12mm and 7.2 lb.ft for 10 mm bolts. Every foot is 12 inch just in case the torque ranch is using lb.inch multiply those by 12

@evancart2 жыл бұрын
Usually warranty’s would require replacement of the drier and orifice tube. I’ve never had an issue just replacing the compressor alone though. And on the oil it depends, some compressors come prefilled and some require oil to be added. Should have a sticker over the a/c line holes
@clydecalamity65205 жыл бұрын
For an 8th gen Civic, I took off the bolts to the subframe and lowered it with a transmission jack to get the compressor out from the bottom. Because it's so much harder taking the alternator off first to squirm your way up carefully from above. I can't imagine doing this without a shop lift.

You need a reclaim machine to suck out the freon. Cause we all know how illegal it would be to depress the Schrader valve on your service ports and bleed the system into a rag. (Edit: ALSO, once the system is dry, you would still need a vacuum pump to pull a vacuum on the system before adding fresh freon.)

Since it's recomended that the condenser be replaced with the new compressor , I'd do that. But he said it was probably a bad clutch so no contamination of the condenser or expansion valve. I think mine is a bad clutch also so I'll just replace the clutch and not have to fill with freon.

I read somewhere that the clutch might not be engaging because there's not enough freon/refrigerant/R134A in it. Is this the case? And if so, should I first just try to add refrigerant before doing any other diagnostics? I'm saying should that be the first thing I do if the air is running warm. Or should I first check to see if the condenser clutches are engaging/spinning. And then add freon? In other words, even if the clutches are not engaging should I first add freon before trying to get them engaged. Because the lack of freon might be the cause of the clutch not engaging? I'm working on a 2006 Honda Civic. I'm also a straight up layman (aka don't know 💩).
@TheAtqthe30th6 жыл бұрын
Liebe Dich lol we are on the same page. My 2006 honda civic coupe has no AC as of friday. I tried recharging my refrigerant but the clutch compressor would never engage. Checked relay and fuses and it was good. I'm thinking my AC clutch is busted or bad electrical. Did you solve yours?
@bmorici16 жыл бұрын
You can purchase a cheap gauge from any local store to check low pressure side of A/C, if that is within range the ac should kick on. If it's not it could be many other reasons including the switch, relay, electronics, or clutch coil or gap. If the a/c clutch engages sometimes and stops after awhile it could be the air gap is off which is cheap/free to fix. All of this info is online - just search
@TheAtqthe30th6 жыл бұрын
Yeah got my car back from a local family shop in town that I trust. My AC compressor was busted sadly... Going to cost about 1300$ CND for a new one plus extra parts.
@bmorici16 жыл бұрын
@@TheAtqthe30th I would find somewhere to do it for less. Ac compressor is about 120US. Have a shop evacuate the system, remove and install the new comp, have a shop vacuum and refill. Should be able to get it done for 2-300 if you install yourself
@TheAtqthe30th6 жыл бұрын
@@bmorici1 I like to generally fix most of my car repairs but with this one it's honestly not much cheaper. I live in a small town and the shipping is expensive and renting equipment is kinda not possible. I don't like paying big bucks but this will be my first time with this car(which is ok) . The cheapest compressor out here is about 300-350$ and they're not good quality. By the time I get the tools,parts and take time off of work to repair it, I would be already hitting the same price but I could mess it up haha(unlike the shop that would come out of their pocket). Also easier to deal with warranty issues with the compressor if it fails during Canadian winters(shop covers 2 years).
