How to remove a black box from a car. This video reveals how to find and remove a telematics insurance box from two common places.
1. How to remove the black box from a car battery. Simply:
• find the battery in your car, i.e. engine bay or boot
• recognise the black box when you see it
• remove the box’s wires from your battery terminals
• deal with the black box’s sticky pad (or cable ties).
2. How to remove the black box from behind the glovebox. Simply:
• take out the glovebox
• find and release the black box
• undo the electrical connector
• tidy up any remaining wires.

Question buddy, my partner just had a new battery fitted this morning and the old battery had the OCTO easy compact fitted to old battery!!! Now it has been removed she can hear a ticking noise in the car that wasn't there before!! Any ideas?? Cheers

Often, the box can be binned but I'd check the terms of your specific policy.

Hello. The black box can only be removed once the insurance policy has expired. The insurer will know if you remove it early.

They will know if it loses power, if its switched off for a long time they will likely give you a call. If you get that call don't tell them anything, just say your battery died. If you wanted to remove this without your insurance knowing, you can unplug this and then connect it to a 12v battery or 12v power source so the insurance does not know its disconnected. If the wire is deep in your glove box You could also cut the wire in the car before the connecter and put a female 12v connecter on the blackbox side and male on the wire connected to the car. Then if you take the blackbox out you can plug it into a 12v wall adaptor.
