Thanks for the advice man but it is much easier if you open the hood and switch it from the top of the transmission

@@jesserowland6936 Maybe easier, but more dangerous. Start vehicle, and better have a good parking brake as you step out to put it into reverse, back in car, brake off, then move it out of driveway, parking brake back on, get out, open hood, put into drive, get back, brake off, and go. Plus you would have to disconnect the cable from the top of the transmission. Also, if on a bit of an incline, it maybe hard to get it out of park. I would suggest if you’re having issues with your shift, get it fixed ASAP.

What is that white cylinder with the cable called? I cannot find it anywhere and I'm trying to reinstall the shifter 💀

I don't know it's official name. Is the piece that is adjustable. (Might be just called the cable adjuster?) You could go to any auto parts store and ask for a quote for the part. They will have a diagram of it, along with it's official name. It is possibly not sold separately, but part of the cable. Sorry I can not be of more help Allie.

What is the interlock cable for? Mine isn’t connected

I is so someone like a kid or passenger can not knock it out of park and have it roll! You have to either have the key on, or on newer cars, your foot on the brake pedal to shift out of park.

Off hand I don't know the exact reason. I have seen where if the vehicle battery is dead, the key will not come out. So there must be a electric lock inside the ignition to hold the key in while driving that releases when you shut the key off... maybe. If that is the case, it may have its own fuse for that circuit...maybe. Or it could be part of another circuit that runs some other device. Maybe a corroded wire in that circuit. I don't have access to wiring diagrams to confirm any of this. Hope this gets points you in the right direction .

@@unclemarksdiyauto I got the key out I had to push the shift cable like the boot but the spring push it all the way in and the key came out so I’m thinking I need a new shift cable do you have any videos on replacing that?
