Hi, Tom! I watched your tutorial several times in order to fully understand how to apply the sensor, and it was perfect. It lasted the whole two weeks on the very first try! I came back to watch this tutorial. I can't thank you enough for this information. You are very clear and you break it down so well that it gave me the confidence to get it done. Thanks again!

I also use coconut oil, but I put it on a q-tip and kind of “moosh” the cotton part around the sensor to get a lot of oil under there, and it comes right off. The remaining oil usually is enough to take the remaining adhesive off my skin as well. I’m so happy to have found your channel, as I have been a type 1 for 47 years and you have some amazing tips. Good that’s good news. I love this video when I took my first sensor off, it was stuck on like crazy glue. When I finally got it off I had red spots all over my arm so apparently I ripped some skin off -not fun. I put the second sensor on the other arm because I didn’t want to further damage the first arm. And, I’ve watched a lot of your videos; in addition, to prepare for removal of second sensor, I went out and got baby oil, cotton swabs and alcohol rubs. I already had soap and water. Your videos are wonderful-light hearted makes me laugh a little while I rip the sensors off my arm keep it up. You are a star.🎉🎉

This was absolutely brilliant. I have Type 3c diabetes and my nurse just said use coconut oil. It wasn't until that night that I thought How?? My fingers would be slippery, how would I grip? Your video was absolutely Spot on!! To use a cotton wool ball then allowing it to soak which most certainly would not have occurred to me was excellent. I have a couple of CTDs as well so my skin is tight and dry. I reapplied the coconut oil several times over the ten minutes then gently eased the edges, then pulled. It came off without a second of pain. You are an absolute star for such a superb guide. Thank you so much 😊

Tom, T1D for 36 years. I have the Medtronic 670G (fake panaceas basically) and the sensors were so expensive and the calibrating constantly (only when your stable - yikes) made me high due to stress (cortisol). Thanks, I have tried this approach, but I find it easier to remove sensors in the shower. I direct the warm water onto the sensor for a few minutes until I can get my finger nail under the edge. I gradually work my nail all the way around the sensor (slowly as suggested) and the sensor almost falls off. This is also a reason not to stay under the shower too long IF you don’t want to ruin a good sensor!

She said she can deal with the needles and the finger pricks, however taking off the sensor is what she does not look forward to. It is so painful to take off, just like you she has dry skin and the sensor really adheres to her skin. Will definitely try your methods. Fingers crossed.

I really appreciate your video - extremely well done and reassuring. . I need to remove a sensor from my cat - first time she's had it. I've been really worried because cats have sensitive skin and it sticks to fur. Vet said to use alcohol. Somehow oil makes more sense to me. It's gentler on skin and the odor is more pleasant. Think I will use olive oil unless we have coconut, and use a small needless syringe to get the oil well under the sensor.

@@labyfan1313 , don't know where you are located. I am in the US. I use two things with my sensor: Skin Prep protect wipes before I put the sensor on and Uni-solve when I remove it. Both by a company called Smith&Nephew. One protects the skin from the sensor adhesive and makes it stick better. The other dissolves the adhesive to get it off easily. I also think coconut oil helps to get it off too. I still hesitate applying even though it been over a year for me. I thank God for make a product for chickens like us. Fare well as I know you will.

my husband has a terror of needles too, but donated a kidney to me ( what a guy!) and the process involves so many needles he really helped with his fear. I was also terrified as a child, but needed to do labs weekly when I was in high school and have no fear at all since. My advice is to learn what works for you and be sure to communicate to anyone doing your labs. People have different types of veins, and they can behave differently. Pay attention to comments phlebotomists make and remember them to tell the next. The more you learn, the better job they do and the less pain for you,

Hi, Tom! I found this video after putting on a freestyle Libre 3 for my first time. It looked good when I put it on, but almost immediately, I had blood dripping all over. I needed a quick way to get off the sensor, and the instructions it came with don’t say anything about taking it off or what to do about bleeding. I guess what I’m saying is I needed a faster solution than a five step solution where I would have to go around the house looking for oil.
