Great share! I have a pair of ray bans where the temple tips legitimately cracked and crumbled off (assuming from staying in my car). I reached out to luxotica to submit a claim and they were going to charge $80+ to have the tips replaced for an out of warranty replacement because I couldn’t find my receipt from Sunglass Hut. Definitelyyyyyy going to try this and try to find the appropriate tips for mine!

this is what an ebay seller recommends to help install the randolph engineering/american optical bayonet tips he sells for the low low price of $25.. wow, so helpful. not like it’s totally different or anything. can’t twist the temple arms on those makes.

thanks for the reply : Sunglass Replacment Lenses You technically could but as long as you lubricate them in some way the tips will usually conform without heat. It wont hurt to do it though.

As with handlebar grips, water is the strongest lube I use for this task.

so i just acquired a pair of early outdoorsman with leather temple tips that are degrading and need replaced. what is the best way to removed them? thank you

Honestly, with the leather ones I would just grab some small pliers and begin pulling them off toward the back of the temple. Ive even had to resort to getting a razor blade and just gently shaving the crusted leather off the frame. We sell the OEM leather tips if you need them. There is no "easy" way of doing the leather one. Thanks
