You should include to plug in the battery just before sticking down the new battery adhesive to ensure the plug can reach the terminal. Then unplug the battery to put the phone back together.

Thank you for this video... helped me get the battery out of my IPhone 5, had to use the heating method but it reinforced the fact that it was OK to do so. I used a laser thermometer to make sure I was not overheating the phone, it broke loose at 165 degrees.

I could have used this two days ago before I destroyed a perfectly good battery in a spare 5se trying to get it out. The damn tab ripped off before any adhesive came undone. I had to grip it with needle nose pliers to get that sucker out. Ripped a big hole in it. The electrolyte stinks like some kind of solvent.

Maybe someone knows... WHY have the adhesive strips, at all? The battery I used to replace the original in my 5c was ever-so-slightly bigger than the original. "Test pressing" it into place led me to believe that with the addition of the strips, it would end up too "thick" to allow for complete fitting of the backside of the phone when trying to put it back on. I left the strips off, the phone went back together w/o a hitch. With a bit of use afterwards, the phone doesn't seem to have an "over-heating" problem, so I'm left thinking the strips are NOT for thermal-transfer purposes, which begs the question... why have the adhesive strips at all? The fit is certainly snug enough to not have the battery rattling around inside the phone... so...? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Have you noticed anything different in the past few months while using your phone without the adhesive?
@PlayJewel5 жыл бұрын
The fit should never be too snug inside the phone. There should always be some room for the battery to expand and contract when its heated and cooled. If the fit is so snug that even adhesives make it too thick, then the battery could explode if heated much because there is no room for expansion. This was the exact problem with the samsung note 7.

The way u guys showed doing the adhesive tape for the iphone 5s looks completely wrong. The adhesive tape wasnt originally on the front of the battery, nor was the screw hole tap on the right side of the battery but it was on the left side of the battery. Im hesitant to follow your guide cuz it will be completely different than how it was when i opened the phone up

Follow these instructions step-by-step on a 6+ and you'll probably be ordering new adhesive strips. She puts down the new strips starting with the tab end, so after you turn the battery over for the main part, you run a good chance of getting the blue film all messed up with the strips. This method makes more sense: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jovGinytd6ysmc0

Every one of these I've worked on has had extremely dry adhesive - so dry to the point the iOpener never melts it at all! I cannot get a card to lift the battery as easily as they do. I end up doing the "Heat and ULTRA scrape" method that involves metal spudgers, and trying not to puncture the battery while scraping underneath it painfully. I do have a question. Is the adhesive really necessary for re-installation? What purpose does it serve? The battery stays right in place and seems to be held in place by the screen assembly.
@gizzymoee6 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is old, but double sided sticky tape and roll the tape over the top of the battery to. Then once you remove it pull the strips like you normally would but the adhesive detached from the case not the battery making it easier. I think the tape is there to prevent it moving when the screen assembly hasn't been attached yet or has been removed.
