How to remove Speed Limit: Samebike LO26 and Fiido D1 electric bikes

This video demonstrates how to remove 25km/h legal speed limit from Samebike LO26 and Fiido D1 electric bikes.
The same methods work on majority of Chinese electric bikes since they use the same parts. Just few examples: Fiido D2, Fiido D3, Samebike 20ZANCHE, Samebike 20LVXD30, Samebike 20LVXD30, Samebike YINYU14.

IMPORTANT!!!
Rising power/speed limit over manufactures specs may damage your bike.
In this case both bikes were limited because of the EU laws with the 25km/h speed limit and not the hardware limits.
Stock Fiido D1 10Ah in China goes 30km/h and has 350W. So we are just unlocking stock settings.
Samebike LO26 stock settings are 35km/h 500W.

Many thanks Mr Techcat ! I went into hospital on April 10 with chest pains and breathing difficulties and ended up on a COVID ward at what in the UK was pretty much the peak . I was lucky compared to many but it was pretty unpleasant nonetheless and although on the way to getting fixed still have issues, breathing etc. One of the first things I did when I escaped was to purchase an eBike from a local supplier based in Woking to get me out and about without placing too much strain on my aged frame which is still pretty knackered to be blunt and the eBikes fantastic , I have done over 200 km so far and use pedals for aerobic benefit, circulation etc whilst still knowing I have the power option to get me back. Mine is the none branded E-Bike S3, full suspension folding type with a twist throttle and cadence sensor with 20 inch wheels and it clearly comes off the same production line and design house as your SAMEBIKE you show in the vid. Mine has the S866 control unit which clearly comes from the same software house as yours . After watching your vid I tried the first method first, holding down the right break and pushing the power button for 5 seconds and low and behold it worked ! I went out for a test run and hey presto achieved 30 km. Last night I experimented more , I used your second method , holding down the ± keys simultaneously to access the software pages, went to 08 power settings and changed the setting from 30 kph to 35 kph, I then ran a free wheel test ( wouldn't have thought of that but for your vid !) using the throttle and achieved 35 kph with ease. I will confess I then set it to 50 powered her up and she was turning comfortably at 50 kph but I am happy with 35kph or 21 mph and don't want to overstress the motor so I've set it back to there. About to go out for another test run and will report back . Mark

If you have any electronic servicing skills and basic mechanic skills you could upgrade the battery for higher capacity to handle the higher speed and longer range. Can be done internally DIY if purchasing the battery is difficult to get hold of

Yo this works with my samebike XMX1214.. even though it’s not the one in this video, I made sure the Bike was fully changed.. I tried a combination of switching it on, pressing the brakes, twisting the throttle for 5-10sec, turning it off and on again, and now my bike is reading 35-37km ph top speed.. it’s also faster on the peddle assist.. I took my bike for a spin, and it’s definitely faster, maybe this works with all the same bikes. I’m not sure what combination worked, but it works.. thanks Man 😁👍🏾👍🏾😎

I don't know what my speed was before doing this, but after buying a speedometer and trying this I was going 18-19 mph on flat surfaces on a Swagtron EB5 rated for 15.5 MPH. So either this worked or it came faster from factory! Happy either way

Hello I've just got virtually the same bike as you, I've got the engwe 400 folding bike , I can see the bike is virtually the same as yours, just different colors. I've just assembled my bike and not sure if I have a problem with it, when I ride and go over bumps I'm getting a noise from either the suspension or the head gear, like a knocking as if something Isn't tight enough with the head gear or the forks.. wondered if you ride yours over bumps if you get any noise from the handlebars, fork area or if its you get no noise please ?

No. They are different. The "carbon wheel" like this one in the vid has only 350W. MAXIMUM is 35kmh in good conditions. The other bikes with 500w can go up. To 40kmh

First: THANKS! Finally someone who is looking into these odd Samebike pedelecs and their controller setup! If anyone has a SAMEBIKE JG20 (sometimes called YSDX20, XW-20ZC) with a controller "X863-AA004" and knows anything about it: please send mail to SameBikeJG20 at gmail My EU model was delivered in an odd state, most likely it was set up for 48V on this 36V bike, resulting in a lower than specified Vmax=20km/h (due to the 25% reduced ampere output). It DID change the setting BY ITSELF after 100miles and the bike runs 25km/h now. Actually I did like the lower speed more (due to gear ratio and cadence), cannot figure out how to set the controller to 48V mode again? I'd like to know how to 'talk' to this controller to change any of its settings (voltage, speed) externally. The bike has NO LCD display or power buttons at all, just a very basic "SAXIN" handlebar control, but several sensors like PAS; brakes, gas grip, also a horn and light button. Speed appears to be measured by the RWD motor istelf, there is no visible Hall sensor. I opened the controller and cannot identify much, no bridges, no DIP switches, apparently a serial port (Tx, Rx). I doubt that each controller is programmed individually (EU,US, 48V etc); there MUST be a way to set the thing up externally? Again: whoever knows about the controller model X863-AA004 (or derivates like X863-AA006 used in a similar bike called XMZ1214) please contact me - thanks! Hello MrTechcat, Thank you for such informative video. I recently bought LO26 in Canada. I have few observations after riding it for 160 km in total. It may be not relevant to this video but just want to know whether everything is right with my bike or not. If you provide some guidance based on your experience then it would be highly appreciable. (This is my first electric bike) I have 500W motor option with batter of 48V-10Ah. I found that top speed is set to 20mph from control. Although when it is fully charged it can reach to maximum speed of 20mph (with my and backpack combined weight of 75 kg). But as battery start discharging it reduce the maximum speed drastically and drops to low as 13.5 mph when 25% battery charged. I also observed battery voltage sagging as it discharge. I made a table as below. Battery Charge Status 100% 50% 28% Voltage drop during throttling (V) 0 3-4 4-5 Battery % drop during throttling 0 20 25 Maximum speed with load (km/h) 30 24 22 Maximum speed without load (km/h) 31.5 27.3 26 I want to know is it normal with E-Bike tendency of low speed and voltage sagging as battery discharge?

But when voltage drops around 51 volt or less bike does not catching beyond 28 kmph, even on flat road where I observed electrical current is consuming 2-3 A. I am thinking there is a window of increasing electrical current to improve the power demand but it seems like instead of increasing the current demand it going proportional to the voltage of battery.

Hey, thanks for the vid. The samebike exists in two versions with different wheels. The one like yours is less expensive and sold as a 250w motor bike. The other one with wheels looking normal, is more expensive and sold as a 500w motor bike. Are they finally the same bikes (^^ ) with just different wheels ? Have you measured the speed with a GPS ?

i also have a chinese Fengwu Xinye folding e-bike (14" wheels) with only an M button on the speedo.... try this: make sure the bike is off... pull the right brake and twist the thottle to the max, hold it both for 5 seconds then turn the e-bike on. You can let go now and try if it removes the limiter. Mine went from 25 km/h to 40-45 km/h (350w motor, 48V 10ah battery). Hope this works in your e-bike.

I have the Same unlocked but for me these speeds are a bit lower. when pedaling and battery 100% supports up to 33km / h. setting P14 does not help because in the course of driving, it shows max at cur: 12 ramps

You could but you will need a bigger battery to draw more than 12A.

If your display head has a Factory Reset option, you might try that. The user manuals state that it resets EVERYTHING back to original settings. Some parameters do seem to be inter-related so by changing one another or more is affected in some way that may be difficult to predict.

My Fiido D1 is by default 30kmh at full charge. Then drops to 23kmh. Never rode it till it shuts off. Max range so far ~25km with some juice still left.
