There is a proper Saab tool shown in WIS (which looks very Heath Robinson) and you can use an impact gun if you have one. I dare say there are other ways, but this has worked for me for years.

Wouldn’t it be easier to remove the strut first and then use a spanner and Allen key to unscrew the top nut.

What do you do when the top nut is a size 18. And spark plugs are either smaller bigger

You might not be able to get spring compressors on doing that. Plus with the lack of room you risk accidentally pulling the drive shaft out of the gearbox.

Lifesaver! So much easier to do it while the darn thing is on the car. It's impossible to get leverage with it off... I tried for an hour watching KZbin videos till I found this guy😂. Suck the strap back on and got it off in 10 seconds. Just don't loosen it all the way of course

If the bolt is rusted badly a few days before the "operation" I put some gearbox oil on the threads. Rust will be gone.

It's definitely not a 19 mil, and Allen key size isn't right either... Unless somehow the UK versions have different bolts? I'm currently working on my 93 sport kombi and the top nut size is 21 mm and the Allen key definitely is not 6 mm??? Maybe you got it confused and it's 9mm
