Thanks for the great video dude! My brother and I used this to remove the transmission from his 08 Passat just yesterday. There was one bolt up top toward the firewall that took forever to remove due to limited clearance. Couldn't get a socket on it even with wobble extensions. He finally was able to remove it slowly but surely. Thanks again.

15:28 - Was great to know to pry out the hexagonal axle bearing cup from the gearbox. By the time you see this you I have found an answer, but I am going to try pry hammer back in again (spline with circlip into the gearbox) - cannot push it in by hand - I greased spline, but there are not many places to hammer it in from under as is all rubber boot in the way!

This is the best r&r video I've ever watched. One thing though...There is no audio after 30 minutes in, can you do anything about that, I'd really like to hear everything that you say when reassembling. Also, why did you r&r, did you put a new or rebuilt transmission in? My 06 Passat, FSI Turbo, has a leak that is coming from the torque converter area, I'm hoping I can just replace the seals.

Planning on replacing the rear main seal on a 2010 Tiguan. This is supposed to be a 09M automatic transmission. All the info that I can find indicates that the 09G and 09M are the same transmission physically. (different internal components for different torque).Do you think this video for removal of a 09G transmission is applicable for removal of a 09M transmission?In this video you discuss reinstallation of the torque converter. Do you have any videos that actually show reinstallation of the torque converter on a 09G?… much thanks in advance for responding!

At 24:18 is there a big gasket or seal that goes around the large portion of the outside? My 2014 mk6 1.8t automatic transmission is leaking from the bottom of where the torque converter is. I changed the torque converter seal and its still leaking. does this mean its the torque converter itself?? Is there any other seals that i should change besides the torque converter seal?
@cp-qp6nn2 жыл бұрын
Hello, did you solve your problem? We had the same problem, there is a seal behind the TC we didn’t have any luck finding one, ours was “slipping” out, we tried watching the outside of it, too e grip, and pressing it back it, but to no avail. We r&r’d that tranny 3 times, then we put in a ntu tranny, no more leak.
@rubenm19274 жыл бұрын
This won't work on 2006 VW Passat because the driver side engine mount is actually attached to the transmission. So you would need an engine hoist to support the weight of the engine or just pull the whole engine with transmission...
@carwerks1014 жыл бұрын
i have one attached in the video, you can also use a jack and a block of wood on the oil pan

I have a 2014 vw Jetta se 1.8t with an automatic transmission. Recently my transmission has been leaking right under where the torque converter sits. So I replace the torque converter seal and bought a used torque converter to see if it would fix the issue. However after 5 mins of running it while putting fluid in it begins to leak in the same spot as before . Are there any other seals I need to replace ? Or do you think I didn’t seat the torque converter seal correctly ? I need advice please

Quick question, I just pulled the trans on my wife's 2010 tiguan to replace the rear main, got it all back together and the trans isn't engaging. Do you think I lost fluid in the removal process or could it be something with the TC?
@carwerks1014 жыл бұрын
Stephen Wejrowski how much fluid did you lose? Is the linkage installed correctly? Did your transmission fully seat together before you tightened all the bolts?
@stephenwejrowski21994 жыл бұрын
@@carwerks101 I don't feel like a lot of fluid was lost but I already cleaned the mess up so I can't really say. As far as the transmission being fully seated, I don't think it was all the way in. I watched the video after doing the project. I know we had everything lined up but the engine wasn't quite level so we had the top bolts started then used an engine hoist to line everything up but I didn't make sure the bell house was completely seated or tight before putting all the bolts in. Did I toast it, or is there anything I can do to remedy it?
