Great vid Austin! This should definitely help people with their disk based systems setup. It was a nightmare renaming the few hundred PS1 games I had. I used a renamer as well (forgot which) and just ended up doing it manually too. IT SUCKS!!!! haha

Help needed. I have downloaded ps1 game from emuparadise. When extracted theres only a bin file with no cue file. I want to play this on ps3 jb.
@tjwoosta8 жыл бұрын
I use a trick for this that helps with large sets without being prone to errors.. 1. Make Backups just in case. 2. Batch archive all of the bin/cue games into their own separate archives (usually they're already archived when you download them but you can use a tool called "7-zip batch compression" from sourceforge to do it if necessary 3. Use the rom renamer in don's hyperspin tools to fuzzy match all of the archives with the hyperlist database. Your renaming only the archives right now, not the bin/cue within. It will pop up a list with all of the guessed matches, this is the trick. You can scan through them and rather quickly use drag and drop from the right pane to the left pane to fix the incorrect guesses and misses before committing to the rename process. It is a bit time consuming, but much faster than manually renaming everything. I did a 1000 rom set in about 40 minutes. 4. Now with all of the archives renamed to match your database highlight them all and with the 7-7ip right click context menu choose "extract to *\" This will extract all of the archives into their own properly named directories. After they're finished extracting use the windows file managers search box to search for the file extension of the archive you just extracted (probably .rar or .7z), highlight them all and delete the archives because you don't need them any more and they will get in the way otherwise. Also delete any other useless files (.txt, .nfo, etc..) Its important to only have the .bin/.cue files in the folders. (You may need to turn on file extensions in windows explorer for this filtering to work, I haven't tested with them turned off) 5. At this point you should have a bunch of properly named folders (matching the database) with each containing an improperly named bin and cue, nothing else. 6. Use the "Hyperspin Cue Renamer" but just skip the first 5 tabs, start on the tab that says "step 6" and click "do it". Browse to the parent directory that holds all of the properly named folders and click ok. It will automatically go though and rename all of the .bin and .cue files (including the filename inside the .cue) to match the parent folders. Its very quick, like less than 10 seconds for 1000 games.. 7. When it renames the .cue files it will create a .bak for each one (which is a backup of the original .cue), you can safely delete them. 8. Enjoy your properly named games :) 9. (Optional) use "7-zip batch compression" mentioned in step 1 to re-zip all of bin's and cue's into new .7z's, then move the .7z's into a new folder and delete the bin's and cue's. In my case the compressed files took up about 50% less disk space, and rocket launcher is capable of temporarily extracting them to pass on the bin/cue to the emulator on the fly.

I have reached enddeck in which I have to burn over a nero program (CUE and BIN) as image, afterwards I should re-insert the CD-Rom in the drive and then the installation should start. I would like to know if the message is correct, I'm waiting for answer before I burn Cd-Rom, since the CD rom for us is expensive.

If you using rocket launcher, you do not need to worry about the names of files inside the archive. JUST change the archive name. And in the Settings tab under MAIN Settings. page down to Match Extension (change this to true) saves alot of time going through thousands of cue files renaming each one. Gives you more time to actually play the games. takes a couple of seconds more load time, but well worth it as its less time consuming ;)

I have a question that I need an answer to, as I can't find a solution online. I've been converting 3D Ultra RC Racers Deluxe to bin and cue files using PowerISO, because it contains audio CD music. After mounting it and installing it, the times I have it working, there is no music playing in the background. The music is already included in the bin and cue files, but they won't play when I start the game. I haven't had this issue in the past with MS-DOS games, but for whatever reason it's not working anymore and I don't know why. Could you please help me figure out what I need to do to get it to play in-game?

Short version: Edit .CUE file with any text editor. Replace the name in quotes at the top of the file with whatever you want the new name to be. Select this name with the mouse and copy it (right-click > Copy, or press CTRL-C), then save the file. Click to rename the .BIN file and paste in the name you copied. Click to rename the .CUE file and paste in the name you copied. Done. It's kind of sad that you need to make a video tutorial to explain how to do this. I saw the name of the .BIN file the first time I looked inside a .CUE file and it just made sense that the name in the file had to match the actual filename. Of course I also use Total Commander, which allows you to view the contents of any file by just pressing F3, an ability which most Windows users completely lack, since Windows doesn't have any general purpose file viewer.
@KingBAS6664 жыл бұрын
nice shiittalk kid, but this doesnt work. retroarch says emtpy entry in cue. and its great cause after 2 years i wanted to play pe2 patched version and non of my emulators works anymore.
@lurkerrekrul4 жыл бұрын
@@KingBAS666 CUE files are nothing but text files that tell whatever program is accessing them some necessary information about the BIN file, like the length of the music tracks, etc. For example, a set of BIN/CUE files might be named like this; Blast.bin Blast.cue And if you look inside the CUE file, you'll see something like this; FILE "Blast.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:02:21 TRACK 03 AUDIO INDEX 01 03:50:23 Now let's say you want to rename the files to; Blastathon-USA.bin Blastathon-USA.cue You would rename the files as such, then edit the CUE file to say; FILE "Blastathon-USA.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:02:21 TRACK 03 AUDIO INDEX 01 03:50:23 The name at the top of the CUE file has to match the name of the BIN file EXACTLY, because that's how the program knows what file to look for. As long as the name at the top of the CUE file points to the right BIN file, it should work. If the name is correct and it still doesn't work, then there's something else wrong. People do this every day and it works fine. Download a BIN/CUE set and look inside the CUE file. You'll see it probably looks just like the example above, only with maybe more or less music tracks listed.

Hey Austin, it’s not necessary to edit the .cue file in a text editor or rename the .bin file(s). Just rename the filename of the .cue file to the name in the database and you’re good to go and saved yourself a lot of work. The names of the .cue and .bin files don't have to be the same. It's only important that in the .cue file itself are the right names of the .bin files and the .cue filename matches the name in the database.
@SimplyAustins9 жыл бұрын
+CriticalCid Very true... however some emulators do not like to load from .cue files and will not start in rocketLauncher. Although this is a very good trick if you can get away with it :)
@Agent-sy9fu9 жыл бұрын
+CriticalCid If you're opening the .cue file to check the name it only takes an extra 5 seconds to rename the .bin file so it's not really saving that much time. Plus my OCD wouldn't be able to stand having a .bin that doesn't match lol.
@CriticalCid9 жыл бұрын
+Jay Helm Not when it comes to games which have up to 20 or 30 .bin or .wav files. And if you have games of a clean ISO set like Redump than you don't even have to check if the .cue files are correct.
@Agent-sy9fu9 жыл бұрын
+CriticalCid In the case of 20-30 files then yeah I wouldn't be renaming them but I haven't really come across any of those. What system has rips like that? In the case of single bins I would still rather spend the extra 5s per image to rename them but that's just me.
@CriticalCid9 жыл бұрын
+Jay Helm It depends on the ROM set you are using. Almost every Sega CD game of my TOSEC set has between 10 and 30 .wav files. And a lot of my PS1 games have at least 3 .bin files. My PS1 collection contains over 400 games, so I decided to be lazy and prefer just to rename the .cue files. RL and my emulators are working really fine this way and thats all what matters :)

Want to change the name of your .bin and .cue files? Open the .cue file in a text editor and change the FILE field to whatever you want, then change the name of your .bin file to match it. The name of the .cue file doesn't matter, but you might as well change it's name to match to keep things consistent.

Can you tell me how to put 2 disc games together. E.g. abes exodus 2 disk has 2 bin. And 2 cue. Help
@DJLNR.4 жыл бұрын
We call it a disc image as in to say it's a imaginary imagery of the disc and it's contents regardless of what the files and folders are. Image file is the files and folder contents all wrapped up by means of whatever computer software can archive and read. iso file is the standard of compact disc archive expecially dvd as dvd is a more known and useful way to store data as the surface area holds up more over time and less chance of rotting which is not caused by old age but merely people touching discs with food on their hands and or never cleaning discs once oer year..
