We have been waiting years to be able to do this and finally it is the day we get a whole new kitchen! Just one little problem...lots and lots of steps!

Dear Micheal, Carlo here, my mom, is 84 and still manages to climb the stairs to go out / back home in total about 700 steps, of course we are not all the same, my father for example just one year more than mom, he can't to get out of the house more, to have the opportunity to grow old, is a gift, otherwise it means that you die young, life is made up of moments, (good and bad) that go away faster than we think, and someone more lucky than others, and someone else is more unfortunate than others, but still almost everyone has the opportunity to take our life with positivity, even if everything goes wrong!

@@mircat28 that's how it is in small Italian villages, I grew up in a tiny village on lake Como and everyone knows everyone. It's changing a bit, especially with lake Como becoming popular and expensive lots of rich people buy houses for vacationing, and my friends can't afford to live close to their parents unless they inherit their grandparents' place. But when I go back there are still lots of people that stop my mom all over the place, and that know me as "so and so's daughter/granddaughter"

I found this so fascinating to watch all the logistics of transporting the boxes and then the construction of the kitchen. Both my grandparents come from islands ( Crete and Ikaria) where people remark "oh poor soul, he/she died so young , he/she was only 92 ! So we get the occasional TV crew making documentaries. They always focus on the diet and keep forgetting the huge mountains where their produce comes from and the attitude towards quality of life these people have..

Congratulations! Like Genesis out of chaos comes order. All of this took advananced planning, as to what precisely you wanted with the availble space. Well done Niki and Carlo. Just the getting of all the stuff down to the house was a monumental task. Hat's off to those that carried stuff on their backs, especially the fridge. Carlo, you were in your element, organizing the whole transport{Carrella a good Englisgh translation is acatapillerorizedtrolley} deal and getting those shelf holders made{brackets}. It's amazing what Ikea can do. Niki, you were smart, you stayed out of the way and did the essential...made lunch. What's your puppy's name, I didn't get it. You were right, he keeps Holly young by playing well togather and sleeping together. Comparing the old to the new, the old was functioning clutter, the new, modern {almost an American sized fridge} , sleek, fully functional, giving you both more light and a view to the outside while at the sink. I love that toaster bif enough for bagels. A major accomplishment, with help from great friends. Have several Bloody Caesars on me! Un abbraccio forte a due!

Remarkably you guys have managed ( with help) to not only bring all the pieces of kitchen parts, a fridge, Carlo made brackets , paint accent walls and all with daring steps to climb, little dogs to manage. But the result is modern, lots of wood and a shinny new tap, though we were wondering if by having open shelves ( that look lovely) you might have lost storage space? Looks like a lovely modern country kitchen anyway, with a sink with a view…yaaa!.
