We just got a repair on this unit (entire drum/transmission assembly replaced). Machine is now working fine but during the spin cycle, there is a really loud flapping noise. Sounds like the drum might be hitting off something when it's in high spin mode. Any suggestions for what to check? Thanks!

Great video. How can I have separate power cords for the washer and dryer? Currently my GE stackable washer and dryer combo had only one cord. However I understand the washer and dryer have separate circuits so in theory is it possible to separate the power input such that the washer and dryer each has it own separate power cord? Thanks.

Hi. We have one of these GE 24-inch stackable washer/dryer units. While I clean the lint screen after each load, I recently noticed that when I got a flashlight and looked down behind the louvers below the dryer's main opening, there is quite a bit of lint built up inside the small chamber (in the back of the chamber, I can see a "squirrel cage" fan, which I assume circulates the dryer's air up through the lint filter in the door). I would like to clean out the built-up lint inside this chamber, but the louvers are so narrow that I cannot fit even a small-diameter vacuum cleaner hose through them. Also, while I might be able to slide a long, very skinny bristle brush through the louvers to try to snag some of the lint, it would likely take a very long time to reach in and snag most or all of the lint and try to pull it up and through the louvers. My question is: Can I access the lint chamber below the dryer's drum by maybe going up through the section of the unit that you accessed when showing how to replace the circuit board in your video? The lint chamber looks to be inside the bottom section of the dryer, almost directly above where that circuit board is mounted. Having a lot of lint accumulated in that little chamber makes me nervous... Thanks for whatever information you can give me. Bill in SoCal

Thanks for posting this. When I do the diagnostic test with pressing start and deep rinse then turn dial to 6 oclock (heavy) the lights do not flash. The rinse, spin and wash light up steady green. I noticed there is a data port down under the dial. Does that mean this model must be plugged into a diagnostic tool for diagnostics? Perhaps a manufacturers attempt to short circuit repairs by property owners?

I have almost the exact same unit. When I push the dryer start button, there is a buzz but it doesn't start. If I start the drum turning and press the start button, it will run. I thought it would be because of a faulty startup capacitor but can't find one. There are a couple of small ones on that board though. Is the board the cause of the problem or am I missing something else? Thank you.

I've done some more research and learned all the startup parts are integral to the motor. That appears to be the problem.

Want to start off letting you know I am a retired divorced woman on a pretty tight budget, That being said, I am having trouble with my GE stackable and after watching countless videos I learned how to diagnose. The issue seems to be when switched in diagnosis mode when clicked to heavy after a few minutes it works but when it is switched to light it does nothing. The rinse and spin lights are green. My understanding is that the problem is with the drain pump. It does not appear to be clogged from looking at it (unless I need to take those hoses off to know for sure) Is it possible for you to post a video on how to change the drain pump? I purchased this same unit brand new with gas dryer and it took over a year before I actually installed it due to being in a second home and now installed the gas dryer works but the washer does nothing does not even turn on the lights on the panel. I had to swap out the control panel. When I opened up the middle panel between the washer and dryer I noticed signs of the control panel being fried. Must of been a power surge. It has been working fine since then.

I REPAIRED MINE BY TRICKING THE WASHER INTO THINKING THE that the switch was in fact working simply by connecting the two wires together , using wire connectors and a fair amount of black tape , because black tape matters in this installment, vibration from spinning and agitating, millions of times= coming un done, i have been bypassing safety switches so long that when i get something new i go ahead and disconnect the safety switch on everything, i call it getting ahead of the problem, everyone else calls it NUTS OR crazy, and those very same people are the ones that keep tearing up my damn washer by overloading it, usually within an hour of me giving a speech on why they should never be allowed to use anyone's washer or dryer, and to never use mine without me to babysit you washing clothes in said washer.

Just a note. I had all the Light issues, went thru every sensor, every wire. Pulled the unit out, hoses good. Pulled it out a little further... omg, the installer put the Drain hose about 2 feet into the drain line. THIS WON"T WORK. During Fill, it overflows (siphons) the fill water to drain, and times out. Replace with the Old J and fasten to drain. Installation instructions say it should be about 12 inch above water level. No Codes again! NEXT Black marks from dryer.....it's the dryer bounces and clothes pass over the felt seals around the perimeter. For now, ran a cloth around with a screwdriver to clean debris..yep,,, black. GE needs a new seal arrangement...bad design.

There is absoilutely no way to compare and talk about the difference with separate W/D units manufactured in the early 1980s and before..basic MAYTAG&WHIRLPOOL designs, EZ to fix, and rarely necessary to do so. Enjoy

No, you're doing it wrong! There's nothing wrong with that mother board. When you are trying to put it in troubleshooting mode you are doing it incorrectly. Read the washer-dryer instructions! They say hold start and turn knobs 6 positions. You should take this misleading video down!
