This is how to fix a Makita DMR104 Makita radio with a broken control knob.
Most brands of site radio will eventually develop some sort of problem.
Luckily, makita likes to sell the most parts for their radios separately.
This controler knob board, like a lot of other small parts inside, is a cheap and easy to replace part.
This is not a repair that could be done on a bosch or milwaulee radio.

We should start a drinking game, e.g.: every time Dean says 'naught' or 'that's her done'.😏 Meanwhile, I'm truly impressed by the depth & breadth of Makita's parts (spares) support .

My jobsite radio is called JBL Charge 4. Has been dropped into paintbuckets, blown over by paint sprayers, sanding dust, plaster spray. Works perfectly, costs about half of what a Makita jobsite radio costs (In fact, barely anything more than a price of a single Makita 5AH battery), bluetooth range is triple that of a Makita radio and comes with a battery included.

That cool but I think the most of us get their equipment from their boss. And having all Makita makes same then.

Did anyone notice that Dean didn’t put all the screws into the main board? He missed the upper right hand corner one. It did fall out when he shook the radio. Actually, missed a couple! Dean, thank you for all these videos!

I think I found the rotary encoder that is on that board. EN11-HSM1AF15 should be the part number if it is. It cost $2.84 Not saying buying the individual component would make more sense.

Hi mate. Love your content. I used to be always fixing my tools when I was on the tool. Quick question. I have DMR115. The screen doesn't work because of impact. Is it replaceable or is it part of the main circuit board? Thanks heaps.

Wouldn't be worth it, the screen is part of the main board cost around 120 to buy.

a single speaker costs around 20 euro. SE01620771 but the speakers rarely fail unless it gets a fall of punctured. id bet the main board inside is faulty.

Did you solve this issue? Neighbour gave me one to look at and ass soon as you plug the battery, the blue backlight comes on without pressing the power button but no response to any controls. I’m expecting capacitor issue or corrosion under the shield on the back side of the screen.

How can a radio be too expensive to repqir the components cost pennies
@stevekent3991
@stevekent3991 7 ай бұрын
If you are repairing for yourself, yes, but for a commercial repair service, he has to charge labour and tax and is most likely only going to replace parts available from the manufacturer. He is very unlikely going to spend half a day testing every component and then replace a few components which cost pennies as he will need to charge the labour to the client. By the time the repair bill is calculated, the client could have bought a new site radio cheaper with a new warranty than paying for the repair of an old radio.

😮 WOW this thing is used, abused & put away wet & dirty! Jeez man, maybe try to not completely paint and plaster your radio. That should help with its longevity & ability to function correctly...ie play music - its one & only job! Dirt & electronics don't mix, despite it being a 'work' radio, you can't completely cover it like this and expect it to work a long time.🛠️🔧🔩👍🏻👌🏻😎🎶🎵🔊🎼
