HOW TO REPAIR A VINYL SEAT

REPAIR METHOD:
1. Tidy up the damaged area and in this case I applied some non-solvent glue to secure the flap
2. Take a mould replication of the grain, see the post before this one on how to do that
3. Whilst the mould is curing clean the area being repaired
4. Lightly key it with 320-400 & re-clean
5. Now the mould is cured you can apply some low temp vinyl filler over the damaged area, heating it up and applying the imprint mould (only light pressure is needed, too much and you distort the grain)
6. Repeat if necessary
7. Lightly sand the repair and surrounding area with 600-800, re-clean
8. Apply your colour

Amazing job Wb it's clever how you make a mould for replicating the texture on the vinyl seat👌I cant remember seeing you use an airbrush for your repairs before or is this something new you are trying🤔 I sometimes use an airbrush to blow in any cut throughs after sanding my panel for a flowcoat, it works quite well. Hi buddy, lovely work. What's the process you use obviously fill the area like you would a panel? Dose the fuller hold the flap down or do you glue down? Also what paint do tou recommend? And is it a base and laquer finish? Obviously leather paint?

Hiya, The flap can be fixed back in place with a thin layer of the fx9 filler, when it is heated it will work like a glue. However I prefer to use a specific glue but never use superglue, it will melt the vinyl and foam, creating a hard patch. I use 2 different dye systems, one is from LeTech uk and it’s probably the easiest out of the two to colour match with. The other is from morelli uk, both are excellent. An adhesion promoter needs to be added for both products and the colour can be added. LETECH requires a top coat and this can be adjust from mat to gloss and it is extremely durable Morelli’s had the final coat added to the colour and again can be adjusted to suit the finish, again this is also very durable.
