To help keep the saw in a straight line, fasten a board below the cut for the saw to rest on as you make the cut. Another benefit is it holds the saw weight. 😊

You're 100%, especially with the raid and snow we get, however, we plan to replace the entire siding next season. Since we had left over from redoing a whole side, we just wanted to eliminate that ugly spot and eliminate penetration until then. Thanks and don't hesitate to advise 🙂@LM

Put 2x4 inside between studs too stabilize it

What about the joint where u cut ? Don't think moisture is gonna Penatrate that ?

Z-flashing would definitely have been the way to go for that seam, however this was a short term aesthetic repair. We figured since we had the extra t1-11 from replacing the entire side that we were cutting a window into we might as well patch this piece until we get to the bigger fix. Thanks for watching.

If you prime and paint it it will last much longer.
