Thanks for commenting! I’ve been searching for a video about a 2009 and hadn’t found any accurate videos. The 2009 is different than earlier models. Your comment helped me find this video!

Your front solenoid calve is leaking crazy. If you don’t replace that you alternator will brake too.

I wonder why Honda makes so complicated to uninstall that tensioner It’s a pain having to pull many parts out to have access to the tensioner

That crazy because that how my 08 broke too in the same spot and I took pictures of the bolt and pulley and show the machine guy. He told me it will be $1,800 and up becausewe got to pull out the engine. So I agree with you im going to buy it new and do it myself. This video is a big help to me thanks

That valve cover gasket is leaking too, just like the one on my 2008 3.5 Accord. It saturates the alternator with oil, not good.

What's the name of the bracket that has to be purchased with the tensioner assembly.
@scottytoohottie71722 жыл бұрын
When installing the tensioner how tight does the tensioner bolt have to be if it's too tight the tensioner won't release tension ?

I have a 2009 odyssey and need the bolt lengths for bracket

Is the Idler pulley assembly a genuine Honda one or an aftermarket oem replacement? I had the tensioner pulley snap on the top pulley. However the parts you're showing have what look like cast bolts heads on them for using instead of a bolt head on the tensioner pulley. However my car is an 09 Coupe V6 6MT. So I don't know if there is a difference between the manual version of the car and the auto.
@Vardoulika3 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: I took a deeper look and it does look like the Auto and the Manual use different part numbers for this. The Auto uses part number 31170-R70-A01 while the Manual uses part number 31170-RCA-A04

the tensioner pulley is reverse threaded so righty loosey

Is it possible to just take off the tensioner itself or why everything?

What if its just the tensioner. Is there an easier way of removing

What problems will you have with a faulty tensioner

the tensioner pulley is reverse threaded so righty loosey not lefty loose like regular threads

what's happening is people are going the wrong way and breaking it

I think it depends on what year accord your talking about. I have a brand new tensioner assembly from Honda (31170-R70-A01) and the tensioner bolt is indeed right hand threaded. This is for a 2010 Honda Accord Ex-L V6 Sedan. You should be more careful giving advice, you might be the reason everyone's breaking their bolt off in the bracket. He even says its a 2010 and the Tensioner bolt is in fact righty tighty lefty loosey. Quit giving bad advice!!!!

On the bracket, could I extract the broken bolt instead of buying a new one
@brun03193 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, at least in my case they just took it out and putted the new one in and I’ve been driving almost for a year with no issues!

What kind of bracket is in the green bag?
@williamsamples34272 жыл бұрын
That was the bracket that the Air condition compressor attaches to, it also serves as the alternator bracket and the tensionor bracket

This was followed exactly. Still broke now the forth time there's something wrong with the car in general should of been recalled I'm not the only one

Torque the bolt to 57ft#, making sure the serrated washer is in place, fully exercise the tensioner three times to bleed the piston, then install the belt. If you don't do this, the bolt will always break.
@MrSupernova1113 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that the broken bolt is a result of user error. Either they turned the bolt the wrong way when trying to loosen it or they pulled the tensioner way too hard to replace the belt.
@johnjoseph73823 жыл бұрын
the tensioner pulley is reverse threaded so righty loosey....most people are trying to take it off ccw and breaking the bolt

Honda Engineers fucked up on this one, later they redesign it.

This is actually common in the Accord V6, Honda is crap!
