I was going to try and find one of the Leslie RS3L's and was wondering if the sound will chance if I lower the pressure down to about 45-65 or a little lower? if it does then can I work around it, going to put it on my vehicle (My horn in the vehicle is embarrassing at best).

The Leslie RS horns will work fairly well as low as 45PSI, as long as they are getting enough volume. Volume is more important than pressure, so make sure that your air tank has a 1/2" port, all your hoses and fittings and valves are also 1/2". Anything less than 1/2" won't work, especially with lower pressure. Also if you are going to be operating near the lower end of the working pressure range then it is a good idea to make sure everything is in the best shape it can be in, so get those chambers remachined.

My diaphragm is mint but my “doughnut” washer/gasket looks to be original and toast. Any idea how I can get a replacement? RS-25
@mafarnz2 жыл бұрын
eBay seller taakersc sells new doughnuts and gaskets all the time. Just place a single bid, even if you don’t win he’ll send you an offer at the end of the auction.

I have a lesile supertyfon that is in very bad shape. It doesnt make any noise at all when I hook air up to it. The gaskets in this video are also in bad shape. Could you point me to somewhere to get new gaskets and diaphragms. My grandpa gave me the horns and wants to hear them work. I don't need them to sound exactly right or anything. I just want them to make noise lol. Thanks
@mafarnz4 жыл бұрын
You CAN buy new diaphragms, but they cost $300 each. Better to just repair what you have! Follow the steps in this video. Use the red high temp RTV rather then the clear stuff I first showed, it works better. As for gaskets, there is a seller on ebay by the name of taakersc that sells new gaskets. For an RS horn, one with the spikes on the back caps, you need gaskets and the doughnuts. www.ebay.com/usr/taakersc?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

where could I buy a diaphragm rubber for my tyfon 292266 hand pump fog horn
@mafarnz6 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, I've never seen one of those in person and didn't know they had a rubber seal in them, other Tyfon horns do not. That isn't a very common horn. You may be able to repair it using the technique in this video.

I have a single Leslie with the domed cap like you have in the video (non-RS) It has those two diaphragms but also has a plate in the back of the cap with a rubber ring around it. Should I pull that out and clean behind there? Thanks in advance
@mafarnz10 жыл бұрын
The issue you had was that somebody had put an RS diaphragm in an S chamber, and the two are not compatible.

What is the orientation of the diaphragms in the ra5t, 2 of mine are seal to the horn, and other 3 are to the back plate. Also where can I get rebuild kits. Thanks in advanced
@mafarnz7 жыл бұрын
There is no "rebuild kit" commercially available, you just buy the stuff you need. Toothpicks and wax paper you can get at any grocery store, the RTV you get at a hardware store or pet store (aquarium sealant). I would need to see pictures to understand exactly what is going on in your RS5T but it sounds like the diaphragms are stuck inside the back caps? There is only one way they can go in the back cap, there is a grove machined into the back cap the same shape and size of the silicone ring on the disk. The silicone ring of the disk goes into that grove on the back cap. Sometimes they do get stuck, if the horn works then leave them. If not use the technique that I described in the video, hot water and soap to loosen things up, and you can use a blow gun with a rubber tip to blow into the hole on the disk to get it loosened.

Where can I get replacements at? Mine are gone.
@mafarnz9 жыл бұрын
Tyler Jacobs Unless you have large sections where the silicone ring is completely missing you CAN repair them. New ones run (last I heard) about $85 each, that is about the price you will pay for a complete functional used RS chamber.

I had them taken apart and sand blasted that way they could be powder coated and the shop that sand blasted them didn't realize till they were halfway through that those diaphragms were in there so they took them out but mess up the gasket pretty bad. Also bent the diaphragms almost into a bowl shape and lost the third one so I'm not too sure on where I could locate new ones. I have a Leslie store near me in Tampa

Tyler Jacobs One of the many reasons never to get a horn powder coated.

Yeah im new to Leslie but owned Nathans for a while and multiple Horn Blaster models of horns. These were in rough shape when I got them that is the main reason I took them apart. I called Leslie and they don"t have any in stock but they are $98.00 a piece. WOW

Where can I buy the diaphragms for the S back caps?
@mafarnz8 жыл бұрын
Most likely unless they are warped or cracked you don't need new diaphragms, you need to have the chamber remachined.

Where can I order a RS diaphragm? I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding them
@mafarnz7 жыл бұрын
+Tim Snyder you can order them through Leslie Controls. Last I heard the cost was $100 per diaphragm. You would be better off repairing them as shown in this video.
@timsnyder29517 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Yeah I repaired mine like this but the silicone was sort of corroded in some spots so it may be on its last leg. I'll keep repairing until I can't anymore. What's the recommended operating pressure range?
@mafarnz7 жыл бұрын
+Tim Snyder maximum 140 PSI. I run my horns at 120, and they all work down to at least 40.
