I actually binge-watched all your videos about gel nails 2 days ago and yesterday I finally did my own gel nails!! They came out perfectly thanks to your videos. But today there’s a teeny tiny chip in my index since i tried to open a can using my nail lol and was surprised to see you’ve uploaded this video 🤣😍🥰 Thank you!!!

Hello Liz, welcome back, hope you feel better soon. I'm a nail tech but even after all this time, I still manage to learn so much from your videos, thank you for doing the impromptu ones where you've had an accident, they're invaluable information resources. Take care of yourself young lady, hugs Karen xxx

Thank you for this! It helps to see how you make the levels of the old and new gel match. Could you consider doing a video on problems with nail corners? I have been doing hard gel overlays for a few years now and despite watching as many of your videos as I can, many times, I still always have issues with the corners of my overlays breaking off. I also have confusion about getting the gel thickness right, because it wants to come out super thin on the edges (and then flakes off) or I try to force it to be thicker (and then chunks break off with wear). I've tried undercutting the natural nail with the finish filing but that still doesn't solve it. I always have corner issues within one week. Short of giving up on overlays and switching to extensions idk what else to try. Thank you, I love your videos!

OMG Liz...this *just* happened to me and I usually just take it all off and redo the whole nail, but it's so harsh on my natural nails. THANK YOU for this solution. Your videos are so informative and inspirational! ❤️

Liz you are my go to for any critical information or any questions on learning the proper way to do something with so many nail techs that tend to change the correct way of doing something just because they don’t know how to do it. So I have seen the style of edge nails done a million different ways but I would love to see you do a proper oval, stiletto or square edge nail. Please

Sorry, I didn’t look at when this video posted before asking my question. I do want to say that I am learning a lot from you, and will be starting Light Elegance Academy this week after finding the company through you. My daughter and possible hand model has gluten allergy, so I will be using Light Elegance almost exclusively on her🥰

Hey Liz! 👋 I have a video request for you. Since square nail extensions are so popular again, could you do a video on how to sculpt that shape? I looked through your past videos and couldn't find one on that shape. Please & thanks!

Hi Liz, I love your videos - so helpful! As a beginner with DIY gel nails do you have any existing videos/can you make a video addressing tips to avoid improper curing when working with glitter or other things that can block UV light such as gems? How do you know when you put too much glitter or gems and the gel under such things isn't curing? I heard from Jim that the polymerization can continue UNDER the embellishments but I'm not sure to what extent you can block the UV. Thanks!

Hi Liz! Another amazingly educational video. Thank you! One thing I've noticed is that the speaking volume and the intro have very different volume settings, so it's loud during the intro and then I have to crank up the sound and then try to drop the volume again at the end (or mute really fast during commercials) bc the rest is so loud. Just an FYI from an end user 😁
@TheNailHub2 жыл бұрын
I think this depends on peoples devices and or headphones. On both my computers and my phone it sounds the same but you and one other person have said it’s loud and then quiet. Will investigate further.
@laceyace181 Жыл бұрын
Same for me, with this video. It's not a HUGE difference, but on a scale of 1-10, the intro is a 7 and the video itself is a 4

Happy new year Liz! Thank you for another fantastic video! I have a question for you… I was moving a few very heavy boxes yesterday, and I dropped one and tried to catch it but instead it slipped and ended up being held with only the tips of my long nails. The good news is that my gel overlays are so strong thanks to your videos that none of my nails bent or broke or cracked. The bad news is that instead the nails ended up being pulled up off of the nail bed and now my fingertips hurt SO bad when I press on my nails or put any pressure on the free edges 😩😩😩 the color is too opaque for me to see what’s going on in there and I’m terrified to look bc what if it’s a bloody mess and I need to cut all my nails off. What do you recommend for this? Should I take all my gel off and cut my nails short? Can I just wrap my fingers in band aids and wait and hope for the best? Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@TheNailHub2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! That hurts so bad! I hear ya. Ok so you can do a couple of things. The best is to shorten them down if they are super long and then use bandaids or medical tape or anything strong and sticky like that to wrap your finger and create compression between your fingertip and the nail. What you are referring to is called onycholisis and is basically whenever the nail plate separates from the nail bed creating a pocket at the free edge. In order for the nail plate to reattach it needs to have no more upward pressure on the nail so be extra careful as your nails grow out. They should reattach with a little time and healing. If you don’t want to shorten them then def use tape or bandaids to create that compression so there’s no upward pressure that creates more lifting.

Would IBX repair and strengthen system be a good thing in this broken nail situation, if the natural nail had lost a few layers ?
@lisathomson30572 жыл бұрын
I heard that you also can put a base layer on before your top coat so the top coat has a sticky layer to adhere to? Is this right? I have had NO luck with BG as yet, they ALWAYS lift and peel at the free edges. It’s driving me bananas!

Hi Liz! Could you please address yellowing of gel nails, esp with white polish? Does overcuring cause this? I've been building and filing to get the right apex, cured polish and topcoat, and noticed that in natural light they look yellowish! I've watched most of your videos, but maybe I missed it somewhere... thank you!!

Hi Liz Happy New Year!! Thanks for putting this together for all of us. So I have a client who's a picker n manager to loosen up the gel on the side of the nail n sometimes cuticle. Can I also do this type of fix or just soak off n start all over again?? (I have no clue how she loosen that up lol sometimes she comes in n she chewed a piece off). Help... Thx,
@TheNailHub2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use this technique anywhere on the nail. She’s probably a nervous picker. Very common.

I watched your Gelips video because I am thinking it might be the best way for me to ware nails. Here is my issue...My nails are very thin and when they grow past my fingertips the free edge starts curving downward drastically. Therefore, when I Do my nails with gel they literally pull off and away from the gel. What do you think?

Hi. Does gel polish thinner interfere with the longevity of gel nail polish? I really want to know your answer. Thank you
@TheNailHub2 жыл бұрын
Yes it will make it more brittle. So it will chip more easily and it will sometimes have an effect on the pigment. Gels that require thinning usually have a lot of solvents in them and tend to dry out over time. That’s why I like to use the gel brands I do because they last for years without getting thicker.

Hi, I gotta topic nail topic NOBODY is talking about... might you pretty please look into it & create a video for it? Ready? Okay, 'How to protect your nails when you're doing manual labour'. If the color is peeling it could be it’s not fully cured. Or it could be that it didn’t adhere to the layer underneath. You can file the area, clean it, and reapply.
