WHAT TO EXPECT
In the series, we cover the gamut of tools real guys would use in their shop. Everything from welders, plasma cutters, metal forming tools like an English Wheel, bead rollers, paints and more!
We get a quote from an Auto Restoration Shop on a repair like installing a new door skin. We buy the tools and supplies needed to tackle the repairs ourselves and see if we can beat the quote!
Mark is the veteran of the series, using his skills to fabricate his own panels on his 1966 Chevy Corvair, including replacing rusted floors pans and even a new door skin.
Cody is the newbie. An up and coming star at Eastwood, Cody has mechanical knowledge and has completed his fare share of motorcycle and jeep projects. His 1967 Camaro will be his first dive into restoring an American classic, utilizing Eastwood tools and AMD sheet metal while bringing the car back to life!
Randy is the project manager of the series, lending a helping hand when needed, but more importantly, keeping the fellas on task and under budget!

These types of videos are extremely helpful. I am restoring a Dodge Ram (Cummins) and they give me an idea of the type of products Eastwood carries. That in itself is worth the time watching them. From the way Cody talks--his cadence and word choice--he sounds a lot like Mark (that former aviation guy who does perfection-level quality work).

This was interesting. My buddy tried to sell me his dads 67 firebird convertible 6cyl but it is really rusty and I passed on it. I still think about that car all the time. I’ll be watching for more videos on ur 67

Use some self tapping screws where you can’t get a clamp very easy to spot the whole back after and it’s just another spot that is Tact

Late to the game but why was it a bad idea to hit the rust encapsulator on the whole firewall around the 4:40 mark. Is it because they needed to remove rust mechanically first?

Usually I definitely try not to bust on people willing to put themselves out there on U-tube but holy crap that bad boy is a rust bucket. Well good luck and hopefully the price of your next project will be a little cheaper.

MIG welding is easy to learn. Just look at how quickly Cody's welds improved in a single day on the first project he attempted.

In 95 I bought 69 for 1200..replaced floorpans and most of hoods and quarters..at the end 18 000 dollars later I Got a nice Camaro..327..355 rear..3 speed...thinking of selling for 30.000...maybe😊

You should prime under your seam sealer it will rust back through if you don’t

Does the panel epoxy shadow like panel bond if you use it on a out side panel? After it gets painted?

Question? What was the purpose of the copper plate to close that gap. Were you welding the copper plate behind the gap or does mig weld not stick to copper. I'm not a welder

Copper backers are used because they are non-ferrous and can't be welded too. So you can use a backer to help prevent "Blow-Through" and weld up a gap in sheet metal.

It's on the back of the a pillar in the driver door jam not the dash hopefully that area ain't rusted out that could become a sticky legal situation if it Is

Should have practiced on a scrap piece before you welded on your car. It really doesn't matter except what you think as long as the welds hold.
