How to repair your VRX COBRA DIFFERENTIALS AND UPGRADES

What size bearings go in the cobra chassis,the manual said 10x5x4 but someone said the manual was wrong and it’s 5x10x4 which I kinda believe, they did have different pictures in the manual but I’m still stuck on what size I need. I have a vrx blast bx that comes on a cobra chassis so I feel like it should be the same.

To be honest buddy, it’s been awhile since I’ve taken out the cobra and also had a look at the bearings. But what you’ve given me is exactly the same size , you’ve just put the numbers in different orders

Hello Anges first of all congrats for you creative ideias and knowledgeble videos. I have a question, this hsp diffs you used i see are much cheaper then the vrx ones, so i want to know, they perform the same or better then the OEM ones?

Thankyou my friend. The hsp siffs perform just as good as the originals. The only reason I got the HSP ones, because they were cheaper on Ali express and you could buy in bulk and change them when needed. But if you shim your diffs properly, then you shouldn’t be stripping out the diffs. Hope this helps. 👍🏼🚗

@@Fast_Lane_RC honestly mate. It’s been a while since playing with the VRX. I wouldn’t be able to remember the size. But if you pull the diffs apart, The best advice I could giv👍🏼🚗e you would be to measure the outer bearings that sit in the diff cups and that would be the same dimensions as your shims. Get shims that start at 0.1mm to 0.3mm. Hope this helps.

Hello...is this car a 3s or 4s?

The car from factory comes 3S. But I have upgraded the ESC to a 4S system. But I have also put in a larger size motor to handle the 4S power.

Jlb cheetah diffs 4pinion diffs 2mm wider should fit I reckon better crown and pinion gears solid steel I think not sure let you know dirty dan

My diffs have been getting really loud so I may have same problem check out my newest video for the damage I had happened I'm gonna have to take the rear apart to fix it so I will be able to check it than

Yeah I’ll check it out. I have done a recent vid with 60k diff fluid and 80k in the center diff. it has improved heaps. And more responsive

Hi there I’ve buy my Cobra from BangGood waiting the slow delivery here in Ibiza and I’m looking for stuff I will need...it’s my first ever rc car. A friend of mine suggest me the 150K oil for the central diff and 80K oil for the front and rear. What you think?

Hi Michele. I run 80k in the center and 60k front and rear. I have had no issues yet. But if you were to upgrade some parts I would recommend upgrading the steering servo motor to 25kg. the front chassis plate , the small one underneath to metal. And the swing arms for now. But just get used to driving it for now and to feel comfortable jumping with it. Thanks for watching.👍🏼

There not the same mate, iv tried 7 times to use HSP diffs in these cars, it didn't work at all! The pinion and crown gears are different thicknesses and the cases are different if you look closely. Try but I don't expect it to last long!🤞

Ah Ok .even tho i’m going to use the VRX diff housing?. It looked Like it will fit apart from shaving the housing a bit. Il give it a go just for experience. But I’ll take your advice. You do know more than I do about these cars. 🚗🚗😃😃

Hey Ange, my mates and I just bought 3 cobra vrx's... I ran mine for 30 mins so far and i've already broken the front chassis plate and now the wheels spin off the ground but not under load. The front drive shaft is bent too. Should I begin by opening the front diff? or the centre diff? The back one seems fine... Thanks in advance.. There's no trouble shooting in the manual and your channel is literally my only saviour right now!

Okay Kris from what I can read it looks like you have done some damage on the front of the car I would say possibly yes you have broken the front differential under impact. If you have broken the front chassis plate and bent the front driveshaft then yes I would say you’re either stripped the pinion gear or the ring gear inside the differential. 😩😩😩

Thanks Ange. I'll order new parts and replace them. Should I be trying to find better pinion and ring gears than the stock versions? And maybe track down some of that 60k and 80k diff oil you review? I've barely driven the car yet.. is this a recommended path if I'm going to replace them?

@@kristo-nolano I’ve tried to find better pinion and ring gears for the diffs, but I haven’t been successful . the only thing I found is that the hsp pinion and ring gear are the same as the cobras. Your find them the cheapest on Ali express. buy the whole complete HSP differential with the housing and then just use the gears to put in the VRX differential housings. What I would do is remove all your differential‘s re-grease them and put in thicker silicon oil. Have a look at my latest KZbin video

i grease all mine as china does not do it well or at all in diff my grease was minimal and dried up NOS cars 5 years in storage new but all the same

How many teeth on your motor pinion?

I am running a 15tooth pinion. The original was 13t.

@@abemosso8869 it’s a MOD1 pinion. If you search in eBay you will find it. Then choose your size. But with the cobra the biggest you can only get to fit comfortably is a 15 tooth. (With a little bit of space for adjustment
