I work with actuators in the HVAC business and its never a good idea to pry the actuator with the socket wrench and extension as shown. The video was very informative and at the end when you snapped the rod back in, I saw movement, which is where your adjustment should have taken place after verifying that it worked in full heat, full cool and full vent.

Thank you Timothy.... That was the first time I ever changed one.

Can somebody please help me understand what you mean exactly by this comment, im a little confused. I'm going to have to try this in my mil 98 LeSabre that is only blowing ac through defrost. Anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
@leebarnes6555 жыл бұрын
@@phillippardo5712 Simply put, don't force the gear to fit the place where the plastic levers are at, instead move the plastic levers to fit where the motor is as shipped. He very easily could have broken things inside doing what he did and we don't know that he didn't. He also did not pay any attention to the amount of threads where the link rod snapped onto the 2nd plastic lever - it's kinda important to be in the same ballpark there. These are shipped at center location so what ever hooks to them can be turned to fit it. The term recalibration required is often used to scare the new guy away - they all recalibrate every time you start the car, don't worry about it. My park avenue appears to have vacuum control of defrost, floor and dash vent outlets, I'm suspecting they all do. There are no actuators for that sold on my base model 97. Only left, right temp and recirc air source motors (3), but they do sell a double headed vacuum tube harness for it. Buick - CJ2 Automatic HVAC Systems (1999) = kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4ikiGquas1sfqs CJ2 happens to be the identifying RPO code found in the glove box label for the various accessories as installed on all GM products. If that video applies to your LeSabre it will have the three letters CJ2 listed there - as suspected they show vacuum pots.

The unstated, but obvious question-- did the actuator solve your airflow problem? Do you now have full control over how the blend door operates?
@waynesmith87155 жыл бұрын
The blend door actuator controls the blend of cold air and hot air only. There will most likely be a vent line leak . You have a main vent line coming from the intake manifold that that supplies the vacuum for the vacuum control manifold inside the vehicle.
@RichRodgersOnline5 жыл бұрын
Good point, thank you

@@RichRodgersOnline yes Rich the subject of vacuum leaks manufacturers of automobiles have to make the vehicle where if it does not get vacuum to the system you at least have defrost for clear window in a snowstorm and do not end up in a ditch losing lives also these cars are good about the fresh air door above the glove box sticking I can't remember and what position
@radiorick49755 жыл бұрын
Also don't forget there is a air filter near the windshield

2000 LeSabre has 3 actuators. Driver side. Passenger side. Mine stuck on defrost and floor only. Hot and cold works. 3rd actuator behind blower wheel wedged against firewall. Inaccessible. Any suggestions??

If you have a mechanic you can talk to they might give you an idea

I have a '99 Bonneville, and I only get heat out of my floor vents and the defrost, nothing blows out of the main vents on the dash, is that an actuator issue?
@RichRodgersOnline Жыл бұрын
Probably so, you can always talk to a mechanic and say does this sound like an actuator. I am not a mechanic....
@jrem42834 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich, 2000 Buick lesabre, only blows ice cold on the passenger side, cool to warm on the driver side, do you think that could be the blend door actuator? Thanks

i am having the same issue with my 97 lesabre. did you figure it out?
@tikemyson46854 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is late,but I have a 2000 lesabre with this same problem. It's been that way since I bought it in late 2017. Did you figure out the problem?

@@tikemyson4685 We had to replace the entire AC I think and that pretty much fixed it, if I find out more ill let you know.

I have a 1998 Olds Regency that just blows out the defroster. I wonder if mine is the same?
@szmuga4 жыл бұрын
I had that problem in my 96 Olds LSS. It was a broken rubber vacuum line that goes from engine to HVAC. I just followed vacuum lines that go from the engine to firewall to find the rubber one that was broken and brittle.

hi I have a 2002 LeSabre and one day it was blowing nothing but hot for a few then worked normal but now it's blowing nothing but cold is that from the actuator as well I move the lever from blue to red no changes in temp. everything else works switching from defrost to vent etc.. any idea as to what it can be??
@RichRodgersOnline6 жыл бұрын
Tito Santiago I am sorry I am not a mechanic.. The way I found out it was the problem, I took it to my mechanic and that is what he said was wrong with it. So I decided to try to replace it myself
@titosantiago3576 жыл бұрын
Rich Rodgers thanks for the reply I guess I'll do just as you take car up to mechanic figure out what it is then try myself.

@RichRodgersOnline4 жыл бұрын
It seemed to slow the problem down... But it didn't fix it 100%... It seems if I hit a bump it switches to the defroster. I am not sure why that is but I am not a mechanic....
@boon6203 Жыл бұрын
There is different color vacuum lines behind glove box I messed around with mine an finally got the heat an air to blow through the vents an stay there without jumping up to defrost like it was doing..
