Should have taken you about 20 minutes to do that O2 sensor, but I'd have done it in 10. I don't cross thread. I've just gotten things really really tight with no chance of ever getting it back out again.

I think these "hey guys I just did this job, and here's the gist" along with a few videos can be superior to full step by step instructionals for many applications and mechanics with basic skills.

Dumb question, when approaching something this I usually use black electrical tape to keep the socket on the extension, how come you didn't try this first? I also tape the extensions together too. I need to replace this on my 96 eldo too. I like the thread chaser Idea....Thanks for the video, will follow your instructions. Someone replaced this sensor in about 02 or so, they broke the evap cover in the process. Spent $1800. to have it replaced. Couldn't figure out at the time how it could have gotten broken until the O2 sensor code started coming up a year or two later..... In tank Fuel check valve is failing, have you tried cutting in from the top to replace the fuel pump module?
@mdlee525 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, actually. I was trying to stack the deck in my favor as much as possible. I did duct tape the socket when I got the locking extension, anyway. I would be skittish about cutting a hole to access the tank... Better just to drop the tank, I think. $1800 would be cost prohibitive for me. Ouch.

@@mdlee52 I have found that these engines are very fussy, so I bought a AC delco original equip o2 sensor. Problem is that it is to long for the standard 3" sensor socket like you have. Did you break the top of the old one off to get it out? Sorry to bug you about this but I've been working on a solution for this for over a year now. I"ve ordered a 6" sensor socket so I can install the new one, but don't see how you got the old one out unless it wasn't original equip. In the past I had to knock the top of the sensor off and use a standard socket to get them out. Is that what you did?
@mdlee525 жыл бұрын
The socket I have was just long enough to work.

This was extremely helpful, but I don't think I'll have enough time to manage this on my own. Looks like it's either shop time with someone who has the tools, or just not driving the car for a while.

@@mdlee52 It's not horrible, it's under the intake manifold in the valley. At least it's a transverse engine. On the Toyota Sequoia it's the same set up but it's the straight engine, which puts the starter bolts about an inch from the firewall. :(

I have a Northstar. 2004 Caddy. A real shit wagon, kept it for other reasons . 300 grand now . Trying to take out the 02 sensor number 1 upstream . Very limited. Gave it a sprits of PB blaster 2x, I will let it sit overnight. This car has been difficult right after 100k. Very difficult to work because of limited access.
