Pro tip. The screw is not necessary. The first time you get it out just toss it. The cover will stay clipped in good. The screw is overkill. I threw mine away 3 changes ago and it's been fine

Thanks for the video. The screw is obviously just there and positioned just so to deter DIY repairs, being that it is also a torx which not every diyer has access to. They hope people will just go to the dealer. Gotta love it.

Just got a Traverse. I just changed my filter on my 2015 4runner, which got me thinking about the Traverse and what's involved. The 4runner takes me all of 30 seconds. But could be worse. I changed the filter once on my mom's 2001 Honda Accord. Literally had to take half the dash off.

yeah - not sure why they didnt include a cut-out from the factory
@ghettoman57163 ай бұрын
I have a 23 Traverse and just changed my filter today and used a T-20 Torx screw driver. I pulled down with my left hand and then I put the Torx screw driver in the screw and pulled down on the plastic with the screwdriver shaft and unscrewed the screw. It is stiff. I put the screw in the owners Manuel zip lock bag because I am not re installing it unless I decide to trim the plastic. Mt filter housing locked in really tight so I see no use in using the screw.
