How to replace a damaged link port on CDJ 900 2000 and 2000 nexus v1

I had this cdj 2000 in for repair and the link port was loose. We can see that the case of the link port had come away from the PCB and left the data connections behind. I remove the damaged link port with flux and my hot air station and then put a new port back on. This repair would work on the CDJ 900, CDJ 2000 as per this video and the earlier version of the CDJ 2000 NEXUS, but not the revised version when they changed the link port to a through hole part. Removing the link ports can be very tricky and need patients with the hot air so you do not damage the main board as these are £300 ish to replace.

The best instruction! so easy to follow. Out of curiosity if you had to de-solder the connector, what would you suggest to use and method?.. I ended up having to carefully cut the legs off the failed connector and then remove each of the tabs off the board the way you show in this video

if you don't have the correct tools to remove with hot air I would use chipquick low temp solder

nice one mate, what hot air gun do you use for desoldering and at what temp ?

it's just one of those cheap 858d and you need to change the temp depending on what you do, you can also change the distance too. Normal solder is around 350.

Hi James! I am going to do this on my CDJ 2000. Do you know where did you do it wrong or what you could have done better? Or messing it up is just bad luck? I mean can we mess it up if we follow these instructions strictly from the video? Could you replace the bricked main assy? I see that it is really out of stock everywhere, so still thinking to really do the replacement. :) Thank you!
