If you came here because you just bought a new fuel pump but you’re wondering why it doesn’t have the tube and filter sticking off the bottom of it, it’s because they have been redesigned. There’s a small hole next to the weird looking little plastic thing that’s about 4” from the bottom. The hole is hard to see because the plastic is all white. So you’re good. Nothing is missing and there’s not another part you need. Just install it and it will work

I had an 02 TC and never had a problem with the fuel pump, I got rid of it for other reasons (rust) almost 200,000. Now I bought another identical one with only 100,000 and hoping the best.

If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, just crank the engine and pull the fuel pump relay on the fuse/relay panel under the hood. The engine will die in a few seconds and there will be no pressure in the engine line coming off the fuel filter.

I am having a hard time figuring out how to test the fuel pressure on my '02 Caravan to determine if I need a pump or regulator. It appears that the fuel rail on this model has no test connector. A hard line comes off the fuel rail on the passenger side of the engine by the throttle body where it connects to a flexible line was some kind of quick connector. Any ideas how I can get a tee into the setup to test the fuel pressure?

Tomorrow I am changing the pump and filter in my 2002 Grand Caravan. I am not getting vacuum to the tank and it shows up as a light on the dash. Sometimes the car will stumble while driving. Could that be the problem? Have you ever experienced that problem? Thanks in advance, Bill

Hello..I have a 2005 town and country an I am getting hard start and fuel smell. I have not checked pressure but have looked under to find traces of fuel on top of tank. I cranked it up and looked under but saw no fuel coming from anywere. Any ideas??????? Thanks

Thank you for the vid! You should probably mention WHY to use the BRASS punch instead of another type of punch --- so you don't cause a spark and BLOW UP.

Seriously you could BLOW UP? I would think catch fire at worst. Don't you have to have an actual explosive element to blow up? Asking cuz I don't have a brass punch, and have always just used a couple of flat head screwdrivers to remove the ring.

Good night, I left the trip recently and after 5 hours on the way to 80 mph my truck was started to pull out until the engine was dead, there was no engine fault light, I checked the main points to open the ignition key without starting it And if the bonba was activated but did not manage to teach, check the purge of the injectors and only air came out a companion opened the contact and pressured the line teaching the van instantly, andube 5 days in the city, back home after Approximately 6 hours slightly pulling without going off, reaching my destination the question is due to replace the pump or what is the optimal pressure or it will be that the filters are very dirty, thank you very much. town country 2002

Hey....looking to do this soon...I have a question I am getting redy toc hange mine...but I am getting people that are saying that there isn't one on the 2003. But the part is everywhere...it does have a filter from my research and looks like it has one from what I can see...any help here? 2003 Flex Fuel Dodge Caravan

It is possible to do this without complete removal of the tank. Follow instructions except for loosening the filler neck hose clamp and purge line fitting. Allow passenger side of tank to angle down and you have enough room to access pump. When I went to install the locking ring, i found it necessary to use a file to bevel the leading edge of the locking tangs. With the tank on the vehicle you can't exert enough down pressure on the locking ring to compress the seal. Also used some silicone grease on the locking ring to aid in driving it into place.

Hi, I've done exactly as this video describes, but when I put gas back in the tank, I'm not getting any fuel to the front rail. I know the pump is good as I tested it before I put it in. What would keep the unit from getting gas to the fuel rail? I put 2 gallons of gas in the tank before I cycled the key and i can hear the pump cycle as I turn the key to the on position, still no gas. I replaced the pump because the floats were not working in the old pump. I even installed the old pump because the sending unit worked, but still no gas. It's like it's not priming, or building pressure enough to start pumping. Driving me crazy as it's straight forward, but I'm at a loss right now. Any ideas? Thanks...

You have to have 4-5 gallons into the tank for it to prime properly. Otherwise the gas is just not reaching the fuel lines.

Video helpful, however on my 03 Flex fuel Grand Caravan there's a hose, part of the rollover system which runs up through the frame. Green squeeze clip to release at the rear, but a fitting with a white insert at the front. Had the tool used to separate AC fittings, but it didn't work. Finally had to fish the tube out of the chassis. Not a fun job with the tank hanging loose. Had to abuse one of the tube's protective bushings to get it out. Service manual doesn't show it either. Your thoughts?

Anyone know if the pump has a regular on it or is it on the motor on the 3.8 I just did the pump and filter was fine for 2 weeks now it takes cycling the key 5 times sometimes more before it will start again ugh

I just replaced the fuel pump and changed fuel filter as well on a 01 t&c...The pump makes a sound very briefly when key is turned to "on" position right before to start. The test port is showing no fuel pressure. The old fuel pump that died made no noise at all...This one was does for 1/2 a sec then nothing...Car won't start any suggestions?

Curious what ur solution was. I have a crank no start low pressure issue. But if I toggle the key I hear pump briefly. And if i toggle it 5 to 8 times it will start. I replaced injectors as they said 4 were leaking. Problem seemed solved for 4 days now its back. So is the pump the real cause maybe that has some pressure leak and does need replacing but the motor for the pump maybe fine. Hence why I ask. Hope you still monitor.

We have a 2003 Chrysler Town & County EL which the previous owner had installed a new fuel pump (I’m guessing this wasn’t done by a garage mechanic). The fuel gauge hasn’t worked since then - stays on empty. Tried doing and interment panel check and fuel gauge does work. I’m assuming a new fuel pump and sending unit will be needed. Can you suggest anything else I could check before replacing the entire unit? How much information do I need to know to order a new one? I’m judging from your video this could be accomplished in the driveway, at home. Thank you.

I really wish i would have seen this an hour ago. Now, I am trying to find the fuel tank rollover valve. OR at least the part that goes into the tank. I broke the plastic stem off at the part going into the tank. I cannot find this part and hope I don't have to buy another gas tank. I didn't see this line due to the filler tube blocking my view. Any suggestions? This is on our 2003 Grand Caravan

I'm getting sick and tired of having to keep getting under the Dodge 2002 Grand Caravan 3.8L engine, remove the gas tank and replace the fuel filter. It's a pain in the neck as I supposed to change the fuel filter every year! Is there a way I can relocate it by bypassing it under the tank and put a new one under hood before the fuel injector so it would be alot easier for me to change?

Thanks for getting back and letting me know. The vehicle is way past that as it is a total of 144,000 miles. I wished I had the ability to replace it, but my only concern is working under the vehicle myself since it might fall on top of me. :(

I have tried to put the siphoning hose in the gas tank it goes in about 2 foot and then stops just before it reaches the tank. How do I get the hose past the rollover valve or whatever the hose is hitting? Thank you

This is doable if you have a lift, otherwise it's off to the repair shop.

These are standard and videos can be found on this subject. Press the thin edge of the orange part toward the connector centerline. In this case, it will be pressed to the right. Then squeeze down on the back of the connector and pull/jiggle.
