HOW TO REPLACE A LEAKING CP3 ON A CUMMINS

We are still waiting on our lift pump in the mail. But in the meantime I figured I would go over some stuff on the CP3 install/removal.
Torque specs - 3 CP3 mounting nuts 70.8 in pds
CP3 shaft but- 77 ft lbs

That bottom 13mm is such a pain in the ass to get at. I was doing mine yesterday and it was the last thing to take off before I can get the steering wheel pulled on and push it out, I got so mad and left it until tomorrow. Pain in my ass 😂

Question! When I go to tighten the pump nut the pump is just turning over. Not turning the gears even. Where my baring tool will even engage. Just spinning the pump over and pushing fuel out of it. Do you know why it won’t let me tighten it?! Driving me crazy rn

Hey Marcus, good video but im currently stuggling with getting the 27mm drive gear nut tightened. Ive got my rachet/cheater& support to keep the crank from spinning) BUT, i CANNOT seem to keep the pump shaft from spinning and get the damn nut to actually tighten up. ANY suggestions?And do you know if i need to align the CP3 shaft to any particular location, before putting it in place? Apparently the 6.7 needs to have the shaft oriented to the 9:00 O'clock position. ANY help/enlightenment would be greatly appreciated! Oh yeah, early '07 5.9 Cheers, Victor

Those injectors in that truck are cummins reman injectors I got right from cummins I only put about 1800 miles on them and whatever mileage u put on the truck trust me those injectors are fresh n I got them right from cummins and also replaced the feed tubes with the upgrade style from cummins!!

You mentioned blocking a bar on balancer when loosening what about when tightening the gear but re installing what’s the best way to re install?

So the cp3 doesn't require any specific postion/timing?

No sir. A cp3’s sole purpose is to regulate high fuel pressure. It’s not timed with the cam or crankshaft!👍🏻 line it up and send it home. Thanks for watching.
