How to Replace a Mazda Miata Convertible Top! (full guide)

This is a step-by-step DIY video showing the replacement of a convertible soft top on the NA (First generation 1990 - 1997) Mazda Miata / MX5 / Eunos Roadster using basic hand tools. I'd recommend replacing rubber parts and rain rail as you do this since these are now older rides!

Also after this I did have to go back and replace the rain rail as it still rained inside the car after the new roof, rain rail was $100 on Amazon and took 30 minutes would have been much nicer to just do it all at once.

Nice video thanks!! As a tip to anyone doing their top replacement, while it's off check your drain channels as well. Since you'll already have a hangar for the cable to feed through, run that hangar down the drain to check for any blockages and such. You can also use a trombone cleaner for this but a hangar works just as well. Blocked drains are one of the most common causes of rust buildup in a Miata.

Were the existing cables in pretty good shape and reusable, or should the cables generally be replaced with a new top?

The top did not come with cables if I remember right, we reused the factory one, it was in fine shape. Thanks for watching
