Lord people SERIOUSLY! You do not have to take the battery out, only remove the post terminals so you don't get shocked, I recommend removing both terminals and remove the air filter box for easier access to the terminals. Also, you do not need an extension to get at that back bolt, you can go through the back of the subframe and get right at it with a straight extension, no problem. There is no concern about the starter wires, they are self explanatory, the two large ones are power and align to each other on the large terminal post and the small one is the ground. It is not as hard as it looks but just make sure you keep the starter level as you remove the bolts so as not to damage the threads. This video was helpful to me as far as the socket sizes which saved me some time. Thanks!
@chrismasters87945 жыл бұрын
Joe Fisher Was going to say the same thing. No need for all the trouble taking battery out. Just one bolt to remove air filter then you can take cables off easy and move them out of the way so they don't touch battery. I also seen the hole in subframe. That's what I used video for also is socket sizes
@KnuckleHeadGarage275 жыл бұрын
Yes but the battery was dead was main reason I took it out that was main reason it was taken fully out 👌

Always buy the lifetime warranty when the original starter fails, that goes for the alternator too, just replaced both from oreillys yesterday, cost me, zero dollars, keep the car till it dies.

I'm fairly certain that Husky swivel wrench you got there was sourced at a Home Depot. I've got a toolbox full of this stuff :D

My Starter has been Malfunctioning since last February so finally got to looking it up on how to Replace the Starter for when my Old Starter finally gives up its Ghost. Looks like an fairly easy Job. I am glad to see the Tip on having to take the Battery out first though.
@KnuckleHeadGarage277 жыл бұрын
Dave Druid yeah you exactly have to take battery out main reason I didn't was the vehicle had been sitting for a while and the battery was almost dead to took it out to charge it I know I have alot of people comment on about how I took the battery out but really all need to do is disconnect the battery termals or at least just one then u can take the starter off or out or you will get shocked and eventually there will be a video coming out about another starter replacement but on a different vehicle would basically be the same as every vehicle
@jaggedmemories51437 жыл бұрын
Great video, short and to the point. You probably could have said something about not mixing up the wires, like marking them with a paint pen, nail-polish, or tape of some sort. Thanks!

Just a little IMO, Good video for the most part. When disconnecting the battery you only have to and should remove the positive (RED) connection. Reason being, you disconnect the positive charge in the whole electrical system and you can not have any accidents. Oh and just to pick at you that flexhead ratchet you have is from homedepot :P. Harbor freight doesn't sell Husky brand.

Excellent video man, and almost exactly my vehicle so this is perfect. I wish you could have recorded yourself pulling out the old one and popping the new one in to see what that process is like. I'm very much in the beginner side of car repair, so I get nervous that I'll mess stuff like this up. Regardless, great video and thank you!
