Everytime you pull your pump and lay it on the ground . You need to chlorinated you well water. Because you can pick up bacteria from the ground and it will get in your potable water. And you can look up the ratio. For different depths of standing water. There are videos showing you how to check that. We also use shrink kits around the wire connections to double seal the wires. We also install a foot valve to the pump then you adaptor from that to you well supply line. That will keep you line from the pump to your tank primed with water. It so your pump does not have to work as hard getting water to your tank. Once you chlorinated the well you pump it to your holding tank and let it stay in it for 24 hours. To kill the bacteria. Go to each fixture and turn it on just until you start to smell the chlorine. Then turn it off. Do that to each faucet and tub and shower. Let it all sit for 24 hours. Once the time is up hook a hose to your drain on the tank and run the other end of the hose in a bucket. Run water until you do not smell the chlorine. It will smell like a pool at first. When it doesn't then you have cleared it out . Then you can run the water from your faucets until there Is no more smell. If not you can make you and your family really sick.

Thank you so much!!! Awesome information. I used to chlorinate it twice a year. But since I got a better water softener I do it once a year. I m going to do it tomorrow!! Thanks.

Bleach works great too👍
@samuelhorowitz5029PLUMBCRAZY Жыл бұрын
Yes, bleach does work. Just use the disinfectant kind. Not the non-splash kind. The tablets have to be ground up or if you can get the powdered. Be sure to check how much standing water and use that measurement for your ratios. Take a few heavy nuts tie them on a long enough string. Like kit string. Drop it down until you feel the bottom. Then pull it out and measure the wet part of the string. That will tell you what you have for standing water. Shoukd put that in sharpie on the under side of your well cap. Depth ,standing water Depth,.. we always put that on the cap and by the holding tank

What a great video. Unfortunately my pump is 770 feet down and they used 20 foot sections of pvc pipe screwed together. When my pump craps out I’ve gotta hire a company to drive a truck into my back yard to pull 20 feet of pvc at a time. Too heavy for manual removal. . It’s $$$ in labor. Best thing I ever did though is have them install a variable speed pump that delivers constant pressure. No more 40/60. Great video and very well done. Nothing you can’t do!

Thank you for the video. I don't understand where the water pipe is, wldid you disconnect it somehow before pulling it out snd did not include that part into the video? Like why water pipe was not holding the pump for m being pulled up?

I wonder if you could help me find answers to the following: Thinking to lower the pressure tank and connect to the pump about 10' - 15' under the ground to eliminate the heating well house in the winter season. My pipe runs about 6' under the ground. 1) is it a good idea? 2) how to do it? 3) Should I install another pressure tank under the house in the crawl space? The well is about 30 yards away from the house.

Great Video. Thank you for sharing. May I ask, around your live area, you don't use City water ? my area we use city water. I never see submersible well pump before.
@alexthehandyman3494 Жыл бұрын
I Live in Carol Stream IL. Everywhere around me have city water. I have a choice to get ii or not. it will cost me 30 000 to get connected (labor, materials, and city fees). Plus my property taxes will increase 4000 a year. So I chose not to get it. If you keep up with the maintenance it is not that bad . You don't feel the difference..

You need to check and set the well tank pressure when its empty!

is using electrical tape wise? If it gets wet and starts to break off, won't it clog the pump impeller?
@NightTrainHD073 ай бұрын
Pretty sure those plastic sleeves need to be heated as the ends have a gel that when heated will mold and seal the ends in order to make it water tight. I use similar plastic sleeves on aircraft wire when making repairs and they have to be heated to mold and seal around the water to make it water tight

My water was barely working. The owner before me shut off the water softener/ iron removal so he could have water. I didn't live there until 6 months later. When I turned on the power breakers sparks happened. Turned out the pump was only getting half power. After getting full power to pump I could run the water softener/ iron remover ! Then every year There were more problems because the system was old. Pump, Tank, pressure regulator, leaks, faucets. Shallow well. About 8 years of repairs.

👋👋 Hello, where are you located, I need your services asap I need help fixing my well. I have to turn the breaker on and off everytime we need to use water because the pump won't shut off on its own I've already replaced the switch and the control box like five times because it keeps burning out the capacitor.

Your filter shoukd be changed every six months to a year. His filters need to be changed. There is one filter that shoukd be the first one. We call it a turn down filter. It is one that will catch the bigger partials and you can take it out and rinse it. In the laundry tub or kitchen spray. Or outside hose . It is your first line defense and will make your other whole house filter last longer.
@alexthehandyman3494 Жыл бұрын
Hey Samuel, thank you so much for you input. I have two filters but they are the regular ones. . I need to get me that "turn down filter". Thanks
@samuelhorowitz5029PLUMBCRAZY Жыл бұрын
It really does save the carbon filters. Do not want you to think I'm trolling. Just giving options like I give my customers. You have tackled what most wouldn't. It great to be able to do what ever needs to be done fore our homes. I grew up with a step- father who fixed everything. That's what made me go into the plumbing trade. I live in Harfird County Maryland. Where there are a lot if homes on well systems. People don't realize how far a pump will stretch the well piping. From it coming on it torches and the weight will or can stretch it five sometimes ten feet. So when the pump kicks on it stirs up the sediment on the bottom. If you start noticing bigger partials in your turn down filter .. that why.. I started using lock-tite on my tee bar. If I use couplings to make it long enough. I have had it come off and stay in the pitless.. lol when that happens I spread it in side the treads of the coupling. Then screwed it back on let it set while I cleaned up and it came off. 😊 we learn something new every day. No matter how long we have been doing it. Thank you for the video. It shows everyone how and what we do. It also shows why we charge what we charge. Especially how hard it is pulling by hand!!!
