My good man, thank you for this awesome vid. Had to replace the alternator on my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and this was far more useful than any of the 1a auto vids on KZbin.

Do you HAVE to take the belt of that way or can you just disconnect the alternator an slide it off the belt without doing any of that?
@heathputnam95246 жыл бұрын
miltown1994 if you don’t want to change your belt, just leave it on like you suggested!
@Eastsidegeorgiaboy6 жыл бұрын
Did you listen to him? He said he was replacing his belt, and you can skip that step if you dont need a new belt. If you really think about it, you can figure it out with your brain!

Ebay or Amazon. Type your car and high output alternator. Also, Zena makes serious high output alternators. Here is the link for them: www.zena.net/htdocs/alternators/alt_inf.shtml

I don't know about other years, but on my 2004, you need to push your breaker bar towards the passenger side, in order to remove the belt,

Mine also. I have a 2008 Ford ST and BB pushes towards the passenger side. Excellent video!....TC

@@terrycole2754did y use 3/8 or 1/2 inch breaker bar and from under the car or from above?
@terrycole27545 жыл бұрын
@@louisschueler7608 Used 3/8" & from the top/above. Very easy to get to and move to get the belt off. a 3/8" ratchet w/pipe,for an extension would work just fine.

ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE terminal... sparking the positive can kill things... like an ECM/ECU...
