This is so great! I don’t sware, but I may start just to lower my blood pressure. 😂 I already have part of the front of the car disassembled because I had to replace the radiator support, and I’ve been wondering if i should attack the oil filter housing from the front while it’s opened up. I’ve learned some thing from your video. Thanks for posting!

I tried it today, not too bad. I was able to unbolt the oil cooler to the housing to keep from messing with that tough to get to hose.

@GOBLUE A2 - The 2.5 is the best engine they make. The guy making this video is a moron. The reason those oils filter housings leak is because IDIOTS cross thread them or forget to use the rubber gaskets. I have a 2012 Jetta with the 2.5 with 150K miles and the engine & tranny still runs great. There's only a few known issues with this car & non are major. I had a 2007 Honda Accord before I got this Jetta & I like the VW better. The key is getting models with the 2.5L 5 cylinder, especially the ones between 2008-14. The VW motors id avoid are the small 4 cyclers with turbos. You should have bought that 2011 vw Jetta & hopefully you did more research.

Honestly wouldn’t be scared of them. They are one of VWs better engines. I work on these cars for a living and these guys made it look WAAAY harder than it needed to be. Clearly they are not working in these cars regularly and I’d be nervous taking my car to them

My local mechanic just did this job on the same car for me, and he didn't go through anywhere near this much work. Not necessary to remove the bumper at all. He went at it underneath and simply swung the compressor out of the way to get to the housing. He had it done in about 3 hours.

I’m sure a mechanic knows all the tricks! I’m a carpenter with mechanic tools and no book to show me how to do the job. I figured I’d post a video because there isn’t anything out there to show how to do it.

@@ryandunn6188 People cross thread these filter housings & forget to change the gaskets. I have one 150K never any leak. The design is ok, you just have to be careful & use the right tools when removing & tightening. Sure I prefer the spin ons because they are easier but these are fine in people do it right. You get the entire housing for $50 to $70 bucks.

You're kidding me right? Lmao. You definitely don't need to take all that shit off or drain anything but your oil pan lmfao. Just make sure you do that or oil will come out big time. Drain oil pan and get a descent wrench and take it off lol. I just used a regular oil filter wrench and wrapped some electrical tape around the wrench in an x pattern so it wouldn't slip off the housing. And waala lol 😅

Admitting to Emptying Freon into the atmosphere and posting it for the world to see haha not too bright. I pitty anyone that watched this and found it informative. It’s people like you that keep us in business. Customers bringing us cars some other shop hacked a job and screwed it up 😂

FYI. I’m just a carpenter with some tools that couldn’t find a video that shows how to fix the issue so I decided to post a video. I’m sure that most of the stuff I did in the video wasn’t necessary or correct but I figured it would help some people who can’t afford to bring their car to a mechanic. Sorry you couldn’t use the video to help with your fix and curious why a mechanic would be watching the video in the first place. I don’t own a repair manual for the car so I had to shoot from the hip with very little mechanical experience. Id expect a reputable shop would know how to do the fix with their expertise and access to repair Manuals.
