Everyone and anyone who makes videos on KZbin showing how to install something or make repairs on a car needs to watch this video! This is the way a video must be made!! No kidding! The goal of this video was very precise: install an oil pressure switch. The video took an ample amount of time to show the new part, and explain what tools were needed to get the job done. Then the cam focused on the part and the mechanic installing the part. The amount of time to complete the job was just right. There was no time wasted. I have watched 35 minute videos on how to install a simple part that does not take much time. No rambling on and on here. Also, did everyone notice that there was no obnoxious music playing during the video.

Saw some videos before, and was ready to take some plastic off, get dirty, crawl under the car, etc, etc.. First I tried to locate sensor.. Took off front (right) wheel. Looked under plastics, here, there, and nothing. I had an oil leak so I followed oil stains... It was just by the oil filter, and it was in front of my nose, hitting me in the eyes ;) .. Really easy, I didn't have to get under the car, and I didn't have to remove any plastics.. And I used 1 1/16 deep socket to remove it. Good video dude.. Thanks.

Thanks Keith! In the 6 months I've owned my 03 lesabre, I've had 60-70 psi reading on my dash gague. A couple days ago now it's reading 100-120psi and it says normal on the dash as it did before. @BarboursAutoHelp5 жыл бұрын
Its possible. Is it reading that pressure at idle?
@johnwagner45595 жыл бұрын
@@BarboursAutoHelp yes. At idle its 100 then goes up to 125 when driving. As far as the part, is it the same if you have a digital dash vs. a gauge? Because I have a digital readout, not an actual gauge and alot of the parts houses like oriely and advanced auto only show ones for the gauge

Recently the oil pressure on my 3800 II has increased to approximately what you show at the end, after reading right at 40 psi for years previously. Hi. I noticed in your video that the oil pressure sensor was not snugged down to the engine. Does it only go in that far? When I looked at might there was also a tiny gap, like it wasn't screwed in all of the way. No oil was leaking out of it. When I put the new one in it doesn't need to be turned all the way in tight to the engine? Thanks!
@BarboursAutoHelp8 жыл бұрын
You don't have to screw it in until nut meats the engine. You torque it down to the torque specification in your manual. The threads on the sending unit are tapered so it gets harder to turn as you screw it in. It also seals as it gets tighter. Just torque it to the specification in your manual and you should be fine. Just check for leaks afterward.

My Pontiac Bonneville 2001-started with oil pressure going to zero when at a light. While driving-pressure normal. Took it to my mechanic-found oil leak-replaced sending unit. However he said when he took it for a test drive, it went down to 30 1x. Told me to keep an eye on it. As if it does it again-I may need oil pressure pump. He also advised-this could be a problem since my car only has 100,000 miles. And he may not be able to find this item/engine assembly. Since Pontiacs aren't made anymore. Also if he did find one-the chances are that auto-would more thn likely have a lot more miles on that part. Any suggestions-worried?
@BarboursAutoHelp7 жыл бұрын
+Deborah Domenici I'm pretty confident you can get an after market oil pump for your vehicle. Now, if you have actually have had an oil pressure problem there is a chance that engine damage has already occurred. That being said 30psi actually sounds good. Not sure why this is a concern. I don't remember what the specification is but 30 should be good.
@ColdWarVet6077 жыл бұрын
The spec for 3800 Series II engine is 414 kPa (60 psi) at 1850 RPM. I don,t know what it is at idle, which can be 750-1000 rpm depending on engine temperature. The phrase "keep any eye on it" when dealing with oil pressure is not what I'd like to hear from my mechanic. Keep any eye on tire pressure yes, keep any eye on oil pressure no. On the highway losing oil pressure - good bye engine, 30 mph on street , jamb brakes and turn off engine, call for a tow. It could be a wire or connector contact issue, or at 100K miles your oil sump screen could be clogged, or sludge. I hope it worked out for you

+BarboursAutoHelp I changed it and now it reads low engine oil level. at first it was low oil pressure. .and I can't reset it
@BarboursAutoHelp8 жыл бұрын
Check the oil and make sure it is full first. If its full you may have a faulty oil level sensor or a circuitry issue, or possibly some other issue causing this. Check to make sure the oil level sensor is plugged in all the way. This sensor should be located on the side of your oil pan.

@BarboursAutoHelp8 жыл бұрын
Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear that! You may be able to get an easy out in there to get it out. Are you familiar with "easy outs"?
@zambiekillah8 жыл бұрын
+BarboursAutoHelp Not really, I just bought an easy out set, I'm gonna look on KZbin to learn how to use it
@BarboursAutoHelp8 жыл бұрын
Here is a video... You should not have to drill a hole as the portion that broke off is hollow. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYa6iIh9fM9_p5I Be careful, don't ruin the threads in the block.
@BarboursAutoHelp8 жыл бұрын
Also, you may be able to get a small socket to fit on the easy out. If so you can use a ratchet to get it out which is easier.....You wont be twisting this one out by hand.

Also, the vehicle featured in the video is a 01 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L. Different engine and different location. If I where to guess though yours is located near the oil filter on your vehicle. Don't quote me on that though.
