Some of those snowblowers have an additional adjustment on the auger idler pulley mounting. Nice video of how to do it without flipping it up.

I have had my machine for 15 years and finally had my first belt issue. Glad this was here, however the factory replacement belts says it's a 35", but I can't get it to come close to going over the crank pulley. Do I need the belt to get up to ambient temperature before putting it on? It's only 4* F today.

Not sure where you got your part number from to get 35”. The part number for this exact belt for the machine in this video is in the description below the video. I just took that number and checked an aftermarket website and the belt in this video is 1/2 x 36-31/32” I’m going to say, you have the incorrect belt. As I said in the video, make sure you use your model number off of the machine and try and get OEM belts.
