Wrong. You can damage the IBS without disconnecting it first. Its stupid, I know, but it is a strong possibility if you just disconnect and reconnect the ground. Welcome to the wonderful world of German engineering.

Do I have to update the software if the battery I am changing is the exact same model as the one I have now installed in my car?

If you have a tool, better to update the software. If you don’t have it, nothing going to happen anyway.

Good day sir What module is your foxwell obd scanner you are using. I have foxwell nt510elite can this register a battery as well.

Hi, I have NT530 this is upgraded version of NT510. You should be able to register you battery with your scanner.
