This video was my guide for doing this repair and it worked perfectly. I ordered the belts through Amazon for about $7 USD for the pair. Took about a month for these 2 tiny belts to arrive as they were shipped from Greece to NJ. At least they were the correct sizes. This was an usual project for me. If you do it keep careful track of your screws. Perhaps you have noticed that this kind of CD Carousel player is not widely available anymore so if you use it it is worth repairing.

Toshiba VCR CD players are just as bad. They put the mode switch ,which needs contacts cleaned every two years or so ,right under the VCR carriage on the main board. Takes about twenty or so minutes to get to it. Clean the switch contacts then twenty minutes to put back together. Oh damn an extra screw. Aggh!

Great work! Wish you lived close. I have the same model. It's worked great till now. Tray goes in and out, knows the disc is which slot. I took the top off to watch and the arm doesn't pick up the disc. Is this issue more than belts? No one in my area wants to work on these anymore. Thanks again!

If you still hear mechanical noises while its trying to clamp the disc the belts are bad.

@@JordanPier Hello again, another question. What type of lube do you use on belt wheels? Do you only need to lube the bottom belt and not the top? Thanks! I got into both belts. They were still on but seem loose. Would this cause my problem?
@JordanPier Жыл бұрын
@@GunnarSande belts cant be too loose or too tight. Correct tension is crucial as all operations are timed with programming. Too slow or fast ans the set will malfunction. A drop of sewing machine oil or mo98 on the sleeve bearing on the carousel pulley is usually all thats needed

Jordan, great video, thank you! My Dad and I followed every step, and you made a difficult disassemble quite easy. I do want to ask for your help: before we found your video, we started taking it apart to see where the worn belts were, and we only got as far as taking the plastic tray that holds the 5 disks out. We then followed your steps a few days later when the new belts arrived, and noticed that we have one screw unaccounted for! It is the exact same screw that holds the plastic tray in place (the gold one in the middle that is a washer and screw combined that you put in at 8:48). Can you help me determine where that second one goes, please? Thank you so much.

Great video regarding belt change on the Sony CDP-CD375! I ordered the belts and followed your instructions to the letter. The belts seem great but I am still getting an error code and wondered if you might have ideas. When I turn on the unit, the tray rotates a few times, then changed direction and rotates the opposite way for a bit, and eventually just stops at which point "error" appears on the display. If you have any thoughts I'd appreciate them. Thanks for the excellent, easy to follow video!

Check your connections to the main board. Loose connections may cause this. Sounds like it's not getting carousel data detection for discs

I have a Sony CDP-C445 five-disc carousel player that is about 25 years old. Recently, it has developed a problem when the carousel rotates, one cd will come out of its round tray compartment and onto the carousel itself which causes the carousel to jam. The problem occurs occasionally---not every time I play cds. It takes of lot of manipulating the carousel to get the loose cd out so the carousel gets unjammed. Any solutions to this problem?
@JordanPier2 жыл бұрын
Could be a loose belt. Surprisingly Sony really relies on belt tension for EVERYTHING on alot of their designs. Too tight and it won't complete a cycle to the next disc. Too loose and it doesn't do anything. Kinda loose and stuff runs faster than normal. You'd have to pop the top to check. If yours has the belt easily accessed at the rear of the machine for the carousel you can see how much slop is in it. I'm betting it's loose. Otherwise youll have to remove the carousel like I do in the video. If the mechanism looks the same, an sco-4.2 belt is ideal, but you can get away with an scx-4.3
@dragon-ly2xf2 жыл бұрын
@@JordanPier Thanks for the reply. I opened the cd player up and ran through five cds repeatedly to see if one would come out of its compartment, but none did. As I said before, the problem doesn't occur often----maybe 5-6 times in the past year. However, I found a clear plastic filament about 3 1/2 inches long that resembles fishing line near the laser unit that picks up the cd to be played. It is curved which indicates it originally MIGHT have been circular and broke. I'm not familiar with the belt, so what do I look for to see if it's loose? Any other suggestions?

@JordanPier4 жыл бұрын
@@Jammerk40 I can do the work, but between the shipping cost both ways and the time to do it, might not be worth it. The primary way you tell whether it needs an alignment or vco adjustment, is see if it stops correctly ona channel with the auto seek function on. If it stops on 101.45 or 101.55 instead of 101.5 you've got alignment issues,.or the step switch on the back isn't set to 10/100k. If it stops on the correct frequency it may just need an adjustment of the vco Of the multiplex. The vco adjustment is on the left side of the tuner board labeled VR401. Find a good, strong station and rock the control back and forth slowly and see if stereo is received. If so, note the middle position between the two points where it drops out of stereo.
@Jammerk404 жыл бұрын
@@JordanPier On auto seek it just keeps scanning for channels but when manual tuning no problem it tunes on the channels fine! I will check the VR401 as you said to see if i can get it to tune stereo!
