I had the exact same symptoms in my 09 Tahoe. For $12 and 10 minutes of time, I now have cruise control working again. I could only imagine what would have happened if I took it to the dealer. Thank you for doing this video.

+Saleen Cthreethirty I thought the same thing about how much it would cost at the dealership glad it worked out for you

Great video, worked for me. I was without my cruise for 2 years because I thought it was a dealer repair. Watched your video then called the dealer for the part. They wanted $30 for it. I got it in 3 days from RockAuto for $12 including shipping! Took 10 minutes to install thanks to you!! 👍

You truly helped me. You saved me some money. You showed me how to remove clip. I paid $9.00 for part. It took 5 minutes to replace with a butter knife. Thanks

I had a similar issue with my wife's 2009 Sierra. Yes it was the brake switch. I would not have thought of this without this video, so thanks for that. My clip had bolt through it, threaded into the stub on the brake pedal arm. That was a pain in the butt to get off due to the awkward angle. But once past that, it was smooth going. Thank you.

this also fixed a trailer brake controller on my 2008 Tahoe. i had the exact symptoms with the cruise control. originally i was diagnosing a problem with a trailer brake controller and noticed that the blue/white wire (brake switch) was always high (12v), even when the brake pedal was not being pressed. normally this wire should go to low (0v-gnd) when the brake is not being pressed. this was causing the trailer brake controller to malfunction (as well as the cruise control). after replacing the tahoe brake switch it fixed the problem with that blue/white wire. everything working great now. thanks for posting!
@TruckMaster8 жыл бұрын
That's weird how it corrected the trailer controller but I'm glad you figured it out

Thank you so much. The other videos I watched had a bolt that had to be removed. Apparently, only the 2007s have just the clip. Couldn't figure out how to get the clip off until I found your video. Took me about 5 minutes to switch the part. Thanks again.
@TruckMaster7 жыл бұрын
+MBSF98 same here that's kind of why I made the video. I'm glad it helped thanks

BTW- I was having problems with warnings to service stabilitrack, service traction control and the ABS light coming on after 5-10 miles in addition to the cruise control not working. Since changing that part, the cruise control now works and I haven't had any warnings so far after about 150 miles. Thanks again.

Thanks so much! Worked like a charm & we aren't handy or car types at all! The only thing that I'd recco. is that a bottle opening paint can opener (29 cents) was needed to get the clip off; couldn't do it with a screwdriver. Thanks for making the vid!

Well, evidently changing out the brake switch DID fix my cruise control. I don't know why it didn't work on my test drive after I changed it out. Works like a champ again (drove the Tahoe on a 8 1/2 hour trip).

Well, after I replaced both front hub wheel assemblies, I took the Tahoe out to the Hwy and low and behold, THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED!!! I don't know why it didn't work on the test drive after I replaced the brake switch.

This worked on my 2009 Yukon XL, however my retainer clip sprang off into Narnia under my dash so now I need to order another. Thankfully mine had an additional 10mm fastener bolt. I was able to space enough washers behind that to hold it together until I get a new clip.
@Leon-wh2si5 жыл бұрын
Did your brake lights still work properly before you installed switch?
@matthewadams98347 жыл бұрын
Replaced the switch and a black bumper fell out from underneath the steering column. Im assuming thats the brake bumper because now my brake lights wont turn off. Any idea where this is located so i can put the piece back. Its a 04 suburban. Thanks for any help.
