I feel a splice on a electric range is never a good solution even with ceramic wire nuts, shrink wrap, tight bundle. It works but there is a better solution. Purchase a kit that homeruns back to the infinite switch. On Whirlpools/Ge styles I used to try this with ceramic wire nuts and shrink wrapping. It was more likely to fail quicker, despite the new bakelite element. I feel the "homerun back to the two terminals of the infinite switch are a better solution. Obviously you are a craftsman so I appreciate you!

Hi, so I get that they are universal for the receptacles, but I have a Jenn air top burner. When I took it apart I noticed it had porcelain or ceramic receptacles. The wiring is old on the Jenn air also, i have a old grill top/burner top down draft. My question is, do I have to use only porcelain or ceramic, since the removable burners have the ceramic or porcelain prongs as well, and the wiring looks different. The wire is covered what appears to be ceramic sheath with cloth cover. Well at least it appears to be since it falls apart easily.

I can’t say for sure since I haven’t seen what the porcelain receptacles look like on your Jenn Air. You could purchase the kits and see if they match what you have and it shouldn’t make a difference if your using housings that come in the kit or the porcelain as long as the clips are the same. If you get them and they don’t match, you can always return them. Or go to the Jenn air website and buy the original replacements and of course they will be more expensive. Hope this helps.

Does the wire matter which way it goes back in the receptacle

It’s alternating current so it shouldn’t make a difference

Well maybe if i send it to you youtube email? Or imagine an old downdraft, it was new used when i purchased it. The receptacle wire is the old style covering with covered cloth, and my plug ins to the store top are aslo porcelain or ceramic. So, i wasnt sure in the heat intensity, or the wire compatibility.

Hey, I'm trying to find the colored cables for my dad's stove to fix it for him, is there a particular name they have because I can't seem to find them?

Sorry for the slow reply, my email was down for the last 4 days and just got it back up and working. As far as your question I’m not sure what your asking? Can you be more descriptive in your question?
