I made a video showing the proper way to perform a front brake job on a 2008-2013 Nissan rouge.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. It helps those of us who are willing to try but don't want to cause more damage or create a safety hazard.

jackbrady7 you're welcome. Glad I can help others learn to fix their own cars

I was taught to use a c-clamp with an old pad to compress the caliper. Also remove the brake fluid cap to prevent caliper piston seal failure.
@TheFeesher8 жыл бұрын
+Geoff V I've never had a problem doing it this way. I've also used the C-clamp method. Still my personal favorite is the tool that can be found at most part stores that ratchets out compress the piston. I've also heard, never had an issue though, that some cars don't like fluid being forced back through the master cylinder or ABS unit so it's recommended to open the bleeder when compressing. Of course refilling the reservoir after finishing. Just things to keep in mind.

Great channel man and diy man. You explained things very well and filmed it well, all easy to see. 12:50 cracked me up , "just be careful" as you smack the camera lol.

+Kattaklysm Thank you! I try to keep it as real as possible, mishaps and whatnot happen and I think it's important to see them actually happen so you guys can avoid them better, I really appreciate the feedback, and thank you for taking the time to watch!

Where did you purchase your brake supplies, had the rotors been milled before? Excellent information!
@TheFeesher7 жыл бұрын
+1cbjack I got it all from a local Oreilley's auto parts store

After seeing how easy this seems it's a wonder more people don't do their own. Also you'd think that someone would open something similar to jiffy lube and do only brakes. What are the downfalls? Frozen or bad calipers? Or air in your line? Also when compressing the cylinder isn't it a good idea to take the cap off the brake reservoir?
@TheFeesher7 жыл бұрын
+Michael Gnieski lot of questions lol 1: There are a good majority of shops that specialize in brakes, when you are a mechanic, brakes are probably the easiest money you will make. You charge 4 hours labor (about $400) and can get it done in an hour very easily with the correct tools. 2: Yes frozen calipers can be a draw back but typically when a capture is frozen it is unsafe and frowned upon to reassemble that way, so you just charge a new one and get more labor, so not so much a set back, just another line on a receipt. 3: When compressing the cylinder the cap does not need to be off, unless there is a brake fluid leak (which will usually cause a brake failure), the same amount of fluid will be in the system as when the cylinder was full (if it's been serviced properly). Some people see low brake fluid and think they need to add more, when in reality their brake pads are low, since the fluid has to keep the piston out to make up for the missing pad material. Now what you CAN do if you would like, and most manufacturers recommend this, instead of putting a ridiculous amount of force on the piston to recompress it and force fluid back through the ABS unit and master cylinder, also since you may not have a tool that can provide as much leverage as mine, is take the cap off the reservoir fill it up to the full line (maybe a bit more, it just depends) and when you go to compress the piston crack the bleeder screw open on the caliper and keep the caliper upright. This will make compressing the caliper SIGNIFICANTLY easier and also provide a little bit of new fluid into the system since brake fluid is meant to be replaced every 3 years, this helps slightly with that, not much, but a little.

Thanks for the video. When pushing the caliper piston, do i need to open the caliper drain valve? If I did not do so, is there any harm for the ABS system?
@TheFeesher7 жыл бұрын
+Mina Bekhit I wouldn't recommend it since it can create a condition where bleeding will be needed. I have done this on dozens of cars without ABS damage, I probably wouldn't do this on a beemer or Mercedes but is perfectly fine on economy vehicles like this. However; if the piston feels extremely stiff (keep in mind, naturally it will be difficult) and you suspect a frozen piston, opening the bleeder is a good way to see if it is in fact frozen.

What are the torque specs for rotor and caliper bolts for 2008 Nissan rougue?
@TheFeesher6 жыл бұрын
I honestly could not tell you, rotor should go on with an impact driver, a hit or two and the caliper bolts, I'm guessing are around 30 ftlbs

can you make a video for the rear breaks rotor?
@TheFeesher7 жыл бұрын
+Ralph Ralph I can if the car comes back needing them. I work on cars as needed, haven't heard anyone wanting theirs replaced unfortunately
@natearias53098 жыл бұрын
Is this the same process in the back brakes?
@TheFeesher8 жыл бұрын
It should be. The customer didn't want rear brakes done yet so I didn't get to them. It should be the exact same just smaller.

I hae a 2013 Rogue is the procedure any different?
@TheFeesher7 жыл бұрын
+1cbjack I am going to say, no, they are more than likely the same
