This video shows you how to install a front control arm on your 2007-2013 Mini Cooper. Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. They contain rubber bushings for smoother rides at the cost of eventual wear, or integrated ball joints that require replacing the entire arm when they wear.
This repair was done on a 2012 Mini Cooper Base 1.6L Hatchback 2-Door FWD Manual and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Any reason why u cut of the video when u realise the ball joint in the middle was going to be bananas to put back on? that's the sort off issues i would love to see so we viewers can see the real struggle, get the Gist?

Have you tried doing the driver-side? Because there's no room to remove the lower control arm without removing the cv axle and sway bar links.

Mine bolt broke off ball joint and cv shaft came out. Put cv shaft back together, welded grade 8 bolt on ball joint and its good to go now.

Questions? When the ball joints are bad does it make a rumbling sound, epically on deceleration? Louder when turning the wheel to one side but not the other..

I had a similar issue, and mechanics say my mini has a loose lower control arm bolt.

What's the torque setting for the middle ball joint nut?
